    It is disheartening that over the age of 30 relievers who have spent parts of 7-8 years at the major league level that still have years of arbitration eligibility left go on to have a career year after have determined they would not be useful for your bullpen, Can’t wait for the reaction if Pagan has a career year fo the Reds

    I have worked with big egos. Anybody who has working in some of the places I have worked had huge egos. To deals with what you must deal with in healthcare one must have a strong constitution I did not describe people with huge egos. I have not worked in some back office. Out of civility, I will leave it at that Cobb went to the World Series his first 3 yeas and lost. The next 25 years not there. Josh Donaldson never there. Bauer went to the World Series with Cleveland. They were there due to Carasco, Clevinger and Kluber. Bauer hasn’t been back since, Bonds played in 1 WS in 22 years. Ricky Henderson played in one more World Series game than teams he played for.

    There was a player years ago from rural Minnesota who played in New York briefly I can’t remember his name but he said something about it being a different world. Living in a large city versus living in a city where you can easily escape the city can mean a lot to some. The culture in New York wasn’t to the liking of some people I knew who had to travel to the city

    I work in a team environment. It really sucks to be stuck with the non team player, narcissistic, biting personality. Especially when they know how to suck up.

    Gallo hit well before going to the Ya knees. He did not do that with the Yankees he is not the first player nor the last player to stink for the Yankees after playing well elsewhere. Sony Gray, Carl Pavano recovered to some success. Given Gallo isn’t old, if he returned to the .800-.850 range with his OPS he woul have been a steal. Risk/reward

    Holliday has a similar minor league trajectory as Delmon Young, Rocco Baldelli and Mike Trout. Which one is he going o be? Or is the .736 OPS at AAA indicative of his talent? If Baltimore thought that Raya and Soto were going to be top of the order pitchers and they could get them for Holliday he would be gone in 60 seconds. When they looked at careers, the success rate of the top 10 was around 50%. And it went down from there IIRC their definition of success was 5 or 10 career war. The bar was low

    Judging by the values of free agents posted I don’t think anybody should be worried about them signing another Bundy or Hill type. No, for the price they would want to spend the team would get much worse. Trade a 10 million contract of a 2-3 war player to sign a pitcher at the about 10 million level is a possibility. Would a recycled Paxton be any different than Bundy? Look for a trade.

    Injuries. That is glossed over. What has changed that he is not going to be injured yet again. How many years in a row has it been? Why would you sign yet another player with so much time missed by injury unless it is a team friendly deal. Wherever Garver plays the team would have to have a near ready plan B. He is a luxury item for a team

Starting pitching at the front of the rotation is still more expensive than BTV thinks.. When the trading was done, the Reds had 3 mlb players from Mahle. I think people think Gilbert may be bettter than Mahle and around longer
