  1. If he had hit lets see, 4 more HR's per season for his career, for a career total topping over 200 there wouldn't even be a debate. We are still obsessed with the HR instead of the game of baseball. When looking at the entirety of his career, put him in. He gets a bad rap for durability but he was generally good for 130 starts per season. That's more than you can say for many a player. I saw his ML debut at the Dome in 2004. Exciting.
  2. My own suspicion is we will be signing another of this type this off season. I'm predicting one of Spencer Turnbull or Dakota Hudson.
  3. My thought is if you're going to acquire someone as uninspiring as Ashcraft you might as well so by signing someone like Montas, Turnbull or Hudson. At least you're saving your minor league assets that way.
  4. I would too, in a heartbeat. This proposal is an easy no if you are Milwaukee. imo. I love Prielipp's potential. But lets be honest, he is damaged goods. Zero value. Festa looks to be a very backend SP if he pans out. You aren't getting Burnes for a potential #5 SP and Polanco. But on the other hand if we are offering a more lucrative haul for Burnes I'm not interested if its for a 1 year rental.
  5. I'm in the camp of for a one year rental count me out as well. Not going to get him for that proposal either. I would say something along the lines of Polanco, Raya, Keaschall or Jose Rodriguez and a second low level pitching prospect. I could go along with a fair package if Burnes agreed to an extension.
  6. Seems like signing Garver would signal the end of Kiriloff as a Twin. It would appear to me as if Kiriloff can potentially be as productive as Garver with the bat. Unless they felt that Kiriloff is toast due to injury, but how much less is injury a problem for Garver? Kiriloff will make a fraction of what Garver is going to make. I don't see this happening for a team that is looking to cut payroll and I personally would like to see Kiriloff be given another chance at least to see how good he can be. Kiriloff has low trade value at this point to boot. Not happening, imo.
  7. Interesting to see the Twins will make over 400k on this deal. Would be nice to see the Pohlad's give the young players who got them to the PO's an added extra bonus instead of pocketing it.
  8. If Royce can play out this season like he has the first two partial seasons he will be thinking of a contract likely well north of the one Julio Rodriguez signed with Seattle towards the end of 2022. He's not going to play for less than he will receive in arbitration. imo
  9. I agree 100% on Rodriguez, he will be great. Think superstar. I would add that if the Marlins were offered Julien and Rodriguez for Luzardo they would be insane for not taking it. I'm not sure if I would trade those guys for anybody, but certainly would not be both for Luzardo. The Marlins would roll over laughing at #3. Trade proposal #1 would be the most preferred by me. I like Lee but but I don't see him as being an extra ordinary player and Wallner surely isn't.
  10. The 5 year deal is for 40 mil or 8 mil per season. Chourio is getting 10.25 mil per season and proven nothing, unlike Royce. So the more I look at it there is no way this gets done. Going to have to up the ante on the 5 years too. 7/130 might get it done. As someone stated, he isn't going to sign for Polanco money 5 or 6 years later.
  11. This is an extension that should be done. Every player is an injury risk so that shouldn't be a reason not to do this, that's what insurance policies are for. Royce has already proven he has what it takes. 2023 playoff season doesn't happen without him. As far as the deal proposed here, Should he play up to his capabilities he should do that well in his 26-29 arb years. Low risk for the team. But, it would appear as though we are trying to short change him greatly in the 2 FA years. Why even try? Show him the money. Increase both of those years to 35mil and I think you then have his ears. That's my opinion anyway.
  12. I can see Schobel being the SS, a year sooner actually. My honest opinion? We are going to wish Correa was gone by '26 and '27. Lets not forget Brandon Winokur for an OF spot by '27. We are going to have perhaps one of the best OF's in the AL by '27. Wallner, Jenkins, Winokur and E. Rodriguez being the star of the show. J. Rodriguez will round it out. Buxton will be a quality backup and role player by then.
  13. Buxton needs to be playing CF to maximize value. He's good. Very good. When he's playing and when he's playing CF. He's a 1 WAR player,or less, as a DH. He's a 3 WAR player as a CF. That's even when he's missing half the season. It hurts the team even more when a guy who is not a good DH is being used by the team as a DH. Get what you get out of him in CF and DL him when he can't CF.
  14. It's about the kind of off season to be expected when you make it known that payroll will be reduced. The camp invite players are still to come, and we usually seem to get a guy or two who makes good on it. I also expect an FA SP or two signings will happen. But more a depth signing than anything. Guys that come to my mind as possibilities would be Dakota Hudson, Spencer Turnbull, Matt Boyd, etc. I do think a major trade for an SP will happen. But it may even be close to ST or even after it starts before this happens. No idea who it might be at this point either. But a couple of our salaries will depart along with one or two of our most beloved prospects.
  15. I like the return TB is getting in Pepiot. Glasnow coming off career highs in GS of 21 and IP of 120. Yep,I like TB's return.
  16. EPATHIZE with homeless people. Who says we don't? You have multiple opinions on the issue and probably hundreds of opinions on what to do about it. This is supposed to be a baseball site. Nothing about the issue is going to get solved here, only create hard feelings and division. This story with it's opinions should not be on the front page. Do we trade Polanco and or Kepler? That should be on the front page.
  17. Right now we have a team that is good enough to win a weak division. Trading Kepler and or Polanco will greatly jeapordize that possibility. We don't have a whole lot of established depth and trading them destroys the depth that we do have, which as stated in the article is none in the OF now as it is. Neither of these, or both combined is going to fetch a #1 or #2 SP. But they are both needed pieces on the team we have right now. I agree that this team needs a #2 SP to slide in behind Lopez. But the organization decided to cut costs after winning the division and let Sonny Grey leave for St.Louis. Smh.
  18. I think the rankings are spot on. But would like to see someone acquired who could fit in behind Lopez into the #2 slot. If so Ober at #3 and Ryan at #4 could give us the best rotation in the game. The options are to open up the purse strings and go after Jordan Montgomery or trade for another guy like Lopez who you can extend. A couple names: Freddy Peralta, Edward Cabrera, Logan Gilbert, Andrew Abbott, etc
  19. I have zero issue with Ohtani getting 700 million. More power to him. My problem however is the Dodgers are payingf Ohtani 700 million, but 680 million will be deferred until after the contract is over. They are getting by with a 46 million dollar hit on his salary. They should be taxed 70mil per year not 46. This is gaming the system by a team and MLB needs to fix it or the game will go down the old cr%%per.
  20. No way the Grinch will be able to steal Shohei's Christmas. If he does that will be one rich Grinch.
  21. This all looks about right at this point in time. I would say that this team will repeat in a weak division. My biggest concerns about this roster is the SP. I'm not at all comfortable with Paddock being the #4 SP. Very poor injury history there. More comfortable with Varland tbh. Also, CF is a huge issue imo. If you get 60 games out of Buxton you better thank your lucky stars. Right now it would be Castro and Gordon in CF most likely.
