  1. Duran. Way too low. I would have him no lower than 4 or 5. He's established. Let's take him out of the pen and see his value.
  2. But the Yankees made a Soto deal, I would say they have outdone the Twins.
  3. WE're probably cursed but I voted for the Wolves. I'll just focus on 2024 as it is too hard to look too far ahead. Vikings, who will now be 47 years w/o a Super Bowl appearance, are already eliminated. Wild, seem to be in a forever mediocre mode, never real good. Never real bad. This season looks more of the same. No Cup in 2024. Twins. We imo have too many holes. Both SP and in the lineup. We'll be good enough to win a weak division but not much farther. The Wolves. I voted for them as they look like they have a legitimate team this year. I'm not really following them at all but they have dominated. It's hard to get on board with a franchise that for years has set the standard of a year is a great success if they avoid 50 losses. But right now I'd give them about a 25% chance to win the Championship in 2024, which is really good. We'll see how the rest of the season plays out.
  4. I fell in love with the Twins in that awful 1982 season. Lost 102. But they were so fun to watch in 1984 when Kirby came on board and were the foundation of 1987.
  5. I was only 5 y/o that season. Can someone tell me what was wrong with Tiant that season to throw only 92.2 IP? He was good for 250 or more many different seasons.
  6. My guess is intern Gabe wrote this story? Maybe Gabe can still get Buxton elected to the 2023 All Star team 6 months after the fact. I mean Buxton is THAT good isn't he?
  7. Very low risk move for Cin. Market is crazy. Seems like a lot of $$$, but if Montas is healthy then the Reds have a front end SP for fairly cheap. 1 year deal so no risk. It's only money if he is toast. This should have been a good risk for MN but we're trying to cut payroll so it was a no go.
  8. Very good article. I had totally forgotten just how good Victor Martinez really was.
  9. I for one appreciate having a face attached to the guy blowing smoke up our ass's. Now lets get Gabe started on his Josh Staumont for Cy Young campaign. It's never too early to get this rolling.
  10. Agree with this. But, should they need his 40 man spot in lets say a month he can just be dfa'd right? Meaning if another club picks him up at that time we'd just be out a couple hundred K.
  11. In all honesty it is very tough for me to jump on and board this train. Or rather, train wrecks. Canterino, 85 IP in five years. Paddock, penciled in by most as our #4 SP at this point. 27.1 IP in two seasons as a Twin. One #3 type season in the ML's on his resume. Now we get to add Staumont to our list of injury plagued hopefuls to the list. Coming off of TOS of all things. If you can't stay on the mound it doesn't matter how good you are.
  12. I fail to see how it is nonsense at all. Roger Maris wore an * next to 61 for years. Years. An * can easily be put next to 4,256 as well. His MVP and ROY could just as easily be taken away. Based on the HOF ban they should be. Pete Rose is an HOF player. Period. He is one of the most arrogant unrepentent bung holes to ever don the uniform. I have zero issue with him never being in a front office or on the field again. But he did things as a player that no other player has ever done and quite possibly will never be surpassed. Pete Rose is an HOF player. Joe Mauer is an HOF player. But if I had one vote for 2024 HOF and was allowed to do so it would be for Rose, and it's not even close. Later.
  13. Good points. Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, McGuire, etc should all be in the HOF. Stargell, Mays, Scmidt etc were accused of amphetimine use but they are all in. They should be. Gaylord Perry was caught cheating on the field. He is in, and should be. Bonds, Sosa, Clemens, McGuire, Rose are likley some of the most arrogant dicks around. But why was the HOF become a popularity contest? But because of "banning" these guys from the HOF, a few years ago I was less than 30 minutes from Cooperstown but I kept on driving w/o stopping. They have greatly lowered the HOF for me. AS for Rose, since he's banned from the HOF why do we stop there? Take away his hit record too. Put 4,265 at 0.Take away his 400 and some managerial wins too then. I'll repeat, it's all hypocritical as ****.
  14. And I sure as heck hope we don't trade Polanco and or Kepler for prospects just for the sake of lowering the payroll. If a #2 TOR SP is part of the package fine. But lets not make our team worse for 2024 just to save money.
  15. At least the Twins did NOT give Kiner-Falefa 15 million dollars. What are the Blue Jays dreaming?
  16. Someone unlocks him or he becomes another talented guy with an 6.30 ERA who doesn't make it.
  17. I've dealt with it for 2-3 years and I'm not pitching a baseball. It sucks. I haven't had surgery. I'm a non million dollar arm LOL
  18. TOS. Recovery from it is pretty poor.
  19. I get it. We are OK with some cheaters, but not some cheaters. So I agree fully, might as well burn the place to the ground.
  20. Hall of Fame is a Hall of Sham until Pete Rose is enshrined. Baseball writers are happy to vote for the cheaters they want to vote for. Barry, A Rod, McGuire,Clemens are all HOF and will never be elected. But Beltran, Correa will likely be in someday. Hypocrites. A guy like Baines is not HOF. As for Joe Mauer, he did plenty enough as a Catcher to warrant being in the Hall. Whether its as a first ballot or not means little to me.
  21. If he had hit lets see, 4 more HR's per season for his career, for a career total topping over 200 there wouldn't even be a debate. We are still obsessed with the HR instead of the game of baseball. When looking at the entirety of his career, put him in. He gets a bad rap for durability but he was generally good for 130 starts per season. That's more than you can say for many a player. I saw his ML debut at the Dome in 2004. Exciting.
  22. My own suspicion is we will be signing another of this type this off season. I'm predicting one of Spencer Turnbull or Dakota Hudson.
  23. My thought is if you're going to acquire someone as uninspiring as Ashcraft you might as well so by signing someone like Montas, Turnbull or Hudson. At least you're saving your minor league assets that way.
