  1. I would agree that as the roster stands right now that Martin would be the first callup in 2024. I would see this being the case even if Martin tears it up in ST, though that could potentially change things. But, do you think the possible trade of Kepler would elevate Martin to an opening day job? Provided he shows himself worthy in ST. Martin does excite me and intrigue me.
  2. 24 team won the WS, and the 25 and 33 teams won the AL Pennant. 30-33 teams all won 90 or more games. We were a dynasty.
  3. I still like Edward Cabrera, so I guess I'm going with B. Not sure what the price would be for him though. Seemed like he took a slight stepback in 2023 so may help with the pricetag.
  4. I think it is a typical off season. A few trades, including the big one with Soto. A few FA signings. But the top of the FA market is slow, that is pretty much normal. But if you want to ask why there is nothing significant, that would be on the hometeam who has made it known that they are cutting payroll. Gone are Gray and Maeda, with no major salary or top player to replace them. You may see a trade of Polanco, Kepler or Vazquez, but I doubt this happens. Unless it is a part of a blockbuster involving our top prospects to cut more payroll and acquire a frontline SP. We might see a low tier FA signing of an SP. But you can't expect much of an off season when the plan is cutting payroll. I'm not even complaining about this. It just is what it is.
  5. I like what you're saying. I was projecting Burnes at 17mil. For a team talking payroll cuts seems like a big chunk to take on. I know it's a bad idea to get attached to prospects, but I sure do not want to see Rodriguez traded. He's one of the only guys I've ever said hold onto him or bust. If he pans out I believe we will see a superstar player.
  6. Burnes I just don't see it. Not if we are cutting payroll by a few million. But if the Brewers are by chance going to retool a more realistic target, though not as shiny and flashy as Burnes, would be Freddy Peralta. He'd look pretty good sliding in behind Lopez. And he's only making 8 mjil per and signed through 2026.
  7. Emanuel Rodriguez over Joe Ryan, and it's not even close, and I like Joe Ryan a lot. Ryan is a very good backend SP. But Rodriguez with what he can bring to the table? Speed, power and CF wrapped up into one package. Please don't trade Rodriguez.
  8. Catcher: Vazquez and Jeffers should not be splitting time behind the plate. Vazquez should be getting the great majority of the playing time, unless he proves us wrong with poor play. We'll be a much better team if he is the starter with Jeffers giving him the occasional day off.
  9. David McCarty. This is a prime example of not counting high draft picks and highly ranked prospects as All Stars and great until they actually prove they can play at the ML level. Ahem, Brooks Lee and Royce Lewis.....
  10. Honestly his comment had next to zero accuracy. It would be akin to me needing my 1 ton truck for my business, but doing everything I can to destroy it as fast as I could.
  11. I sure do hope this boat gets turned around pretty soon or it'll be sunk before it gets started.
  12. 2mil over the next 3 seasons is league minimum, what the team HAS to pay him. But if he performs and is healthy in good faith the team likely gives him a fair raise over that minimum. Same with year 3. Decent players are getting 3 mil in their 3rd seasons. So with your offer of 7mil in those first 3 seasons if he performs well he'd likely gain nothing, or very little. But as you say it is a guarantee. As for his arb seasons, Vlad Guerrero is getting over 14 mil in this his 1st arb season, I believe. So if Lewis is the player that was argued about being the top Twin prospect this year then he should easily make 40mil through arb. 13mil avg. You're offering him less than half. The 3 FA seasons you offer him 37mil. He'd get in excess of 90-100 mil if he's the player you predict him to be. No way he'd even consider your offer. Unless he knew he was toast because of that knee. He would stand to lose 85mil with your offer, actually worse because losing those 3 FA seasons would knock down his FA contract as an older player. Very likely. I doubt he does become this player, because of that kne. I hope I'm wrong.
  13. Decent on base guy for what it's worth. I don't get the move either. Other than they want to compete and don't have the confidence in the rookies?
  14. Or even Lewis? Not as far along as hoped for?
  15. I agree. But I just don't see Lewis biting on this deal. Unless he really didn't feel good about himself at this point.
  16. Not sure if signing Solano has anything to do with where Lewis is at right now, but maybe he isn't as far along as was hoped for.
  17. If Lewis was to take this deal, then he's not a competitor. imo if he took this then he's likely to have just a so so career. Just those last 3 years alone he'd be losing 60mil. If he's as good as everyone, including himself thinks he is.
  18. Skenes is the guy I have been most intrigued over. I hope he makes it to the Twins 5th choice. He could be our Ohtani. If he were available at #5 and wasn't taken by us it would be a huge disappointment.
  19. I fully agree with chepettit, Martin is going to have to be an OBP machine and be able to leg out some doubles at a fair clip. I absolutely believe he can do it. We could really use this kind of player as a future CF. Best wishes this season Austin.
  20. Vazquez has caught 240 games the last two seasons. I'm good with him being the flat out starter myself instead of this platoon with Jeffers. Makes the team better imo. I like Miller as well. It was a toss up for me between him and Hidalgo for break out player.
  21. So fixated on power in today's game. HR's. I'm sure I'm being way overly optimistic. But with Austin Martin I envision a RH hitting Joe Mauer potential. With better speed. I don't believe what he did at Vandy was pretend and his AZFL brought it back to life.
  22. My rebound pick will be Austin Martin, too many gave up on him too easily. Pick to click will be Connor Prielipp, he will put in 80IP this season and be on everyones Top10 ML list going into 2024. My pick for fastest riser will be Alejandro Hidalgo, the guy we picked up from the Angels for Urshela. He's still only 19. 13.4K/9 last season in Cali league.
  23. I don't know, he sure looks pretty darn sharp in the short video attached to the article.
