I honestly don't know what more to expect from these 4 players than the projections they gave. I'm not real big on predicting what guys will do but these projections seem to line up fairly well with what these players have done in their careers thus far. Lopez: Prior to 2022 Lopez by and large has stunk. The projections are saying to me that they don't feel he is as good as he was in April-July of last year and they state that he maybe better than his August and September that he put forth here. Overall numbers look reasonable to me and if I was the FO I'd swing the deal for Lopez every time considering what we gave up. Alcala: The projections are right in line with what he has put up in game play during his brief career thus far. Frankly if his numbers in 2023 are the projections I'd be fine with that. Larnach: What can we even say about him? He's done next to nothing since 2019 in AA ball. He's been injured alot and when he has played the numbers have been left wanting. I'd call 2023 a make or break year for him. He should start in St.Paul and if he was anyone other than Trevor Larnach we wouldn't even be discussing him and we'd be checking him out from Wichita. Same with Kiriloff, lets be honest. Gallo: The average and OBP seem to not be out of reason. The slugging %? May well be low. But maybe their thought is he's older and on the decline.

Twins Daily 2023 Top Prospects: #2 Royce Lewis, SS
sweetmusicviola16 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I agree with every point you make. Royce shouldn't even be on this list. The debate should be where he falls as an organizational asset. Top 5 for sure. Bonehead move putting Lewis in CF that day. -
In my humble opinion, this is our top prospect right now. I'm not cutting Brooks Lee down, he is very good. But Rodriguez is the most truthful picture of prospect that we have. If this guy doesn't light your fire then your wood must be wet. My top 3: 1. Rodriguez 2. Lee 3. Prielipp I'm actually of the opinion that Lewis is no longer a prospect. He's an MLer. When he returns he should be in the ML, aside from a potential rehab stay.

I for one really like this guys name. First of all Simeon is cool. Then the rest of it is neat too. SWR. Spell it out: S W R That is unique. Or if you say out SWR together in one breath no one else in the game has anything that compares. Keep the whole name. As for SWR as a prospect in this spot? Prielipp is better. Elite and should be at #4. Prielipp #4 and right on the outside of top 100 in MLB. 70-80 healthy IP in 2023 and he will be Top10 in MLB. But SWR I think has a good shot at being a solid #4 ML SP. Rooting for him.
-
If I was the Twins FO I would make the pick for Prielipp the overwhelming majority of the time, dependent upon who is still on the board of course. The odds of him becoming an Ace are against him but you have to take that chance as this FO. Should he be ranked this high? Maybe not. But why would you put say Varland or Miller or anyone lower ahead of him? This is a prospect ranking.

Rumor: Falvey says "Bullpen not a priority"
sweetmusicviola16 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I certainly don't agree with Falvey much of the time, but this team has enough pitching. Hitting, that is another subject, and will be a problem this coming season. This lineup will struggle to score runs. Big time. -

If this is how the team views him, and actually uses him, then if I was Gordon I'd be demanding a trade out of here. If actually performing doesn't work then what will? I feel for the guy.

Finish the Roster - Trade for Reynolds and Sign Chafin or Fulmer
sweetmusicviola16 commented on LA Vikes Fan's blog entry in LA Vikes Fan
I'd love to have Reynolds, though there is 0% chance of it occurring. The truth is our offense is not very good. How has that been improved this offseason? By the trading of Arraez. Our everyday lineup is about a bunch of hope fors. Hope Buxton is healthy, when has he ever been. Hope Kiriloff is healthy and can hit ML pitching. Larnach hope he is healthy and can hit ML pitching. Hope Gallo is better than 2022. Hope Kepler can beat the shift. Hope........ AS far as trading with the Pirates I would like to see them go for milb C Henry Davis. -
I'm certain there is a ton of excitement and happiness over the return of Pagan.

Gagne, since the question is Greatest Shortstop. Correa will not play SS like Gagne. No Gagne was never the hitter that Correa is. But Gagne could hit. He hardly ever drew a walk but he could hit. I am glad the Twins signed Correa. But honestly I don't see myself ever liking the guy. He is a cheater.

Cabrera. Yes. I'd be OK with Lopez too. But not for people like Lee, Lewis, etc. Or Arraez for that matter. He would fit fine behind Gray and Mahle at #3. He'd give us great depth but he's not a top of the rotation guy. Plus you only have him for two seasons w/o an agreed upon extention. Cabrera though......

I agree on Martin. People giving up on him after one poor season is irrational. Especially since he redeemed himself very well in the Fall. As for Lewis, why can't he sustain his 2022 ML numbers? I'd be disappointed if he doesn't do close to those myself. I would agree with the OP that his injury history is "troubling."

I would guess once Lewis gets back up to speed Polanco will be moved. Hopefully Jorge has a monster year and brings a huge haul. As for Martin. Many are now writing him off because of his 2022 showing. Kind of reminds me of how people felt about Gordon after his 2018 stint in AAA. Now they think Gordon's pretty good and has a bright future.
