Donaldson camp says, "4/110 gets it done". Are they lying? Or do they have a number that they would expect to get to sign? If Madbum is to be believed in leaving money on the table shouldn't Donaldson's people be believed too in this case? Just of note, I'm against signing Donaldson. Unless Sano or Cruz were traded for other help. I for one don't want Sano at 1B and he is blocked at the moment from DH. Not that I don't like JD. He's an impact player but the pieces just don't stick together quite right imo.

Bottom line is we got no "impact" pitching, positive impact anyway. So how about our FO puts their money where their mouths are. We keep hearing about our prospects and how good they are and blah blah blah. Lets see them sign up Lewis, Kiriloff and Larnach for 6 year terms like CWS has done with Jimenez and Robert. If this is what we believe in, then show us. Enough of talk about windows and impact. Enough of shoving BS up ours.

I even understand not wanting to commit to longterm deals for FA pitching, even if I'd rather otherwise. Hence no Ryu. But I can't understand signing an ever injured SP and a Bailey whose bounce back 2019 was really not very good. Hamels and Tehran could have both been signed to 1 year deals and were far better than what we have.

Exactly. Odorizzi is QOed instead of getting him signed for 4 years. Pineda is resigned but will miss 1/4 of the season. Bailey is worse than Gibson. Hill is a perpetual injury. This is a failure and it extends back to last off season.

Boyd: 2 or 3 guys outside of our top 15. Sale: We take on all of his contract. We trade them Javier and Homer Bailey. Syndegaard: I'd trade them Buxton any day. He's injured a lot, right now actually. We can throw in a top 15-20 guy to get it done. Archer: I make that trade if I'm the Twins.

We wish it would be easy channing but I'm not so sure it will be quite as smooth sailing as last season. Cleveland has a much better rotation than we do and they have Lindor, Ramirez and some other solid players. CWS will not be easy wins this season either, not like the past. 3rd place would not be a surprise in the least to me.

The thing is they've had since mid season of 2017 to address this weakness. What have we gotten since then? A trade for Jaimie Garcia. A Martin Perez signing. The signing now of Bailey and an injured Hill. The best they have done was to sign Lance Lynn as a last resort for him. This is failure at its worst.

If we were going to trade for a 1B over signing Moreland or Thames I'd rather get Trey Mancini from Baltimore.

My preference in all of these scenarios is to sign Moreland now. Get him signed before he finds another place to play. I don't think we're getting JD, I think his preference is Atl and he will let them match any offers we send his way. So if we have Moreland at 1B that leaves only 3B as the weak spot.

So if the odds are that against Hill even pitching in 2020 why waste 3mil? Between the two they will get a minimum of 10 mil. 10mil would have went a long ways in signing Hamels and would have quite possibly gotten Tehran. I get we don't want to give up our financial flexibility but both these signed for 1 year and are far better than what we just got.

By what standards is Rich Hill now one of the best?

Bring back Terry Ryan. A far better dumpster diver was he. What a joke this org is.

Hill is already injured from what I recall so he will not be ready to start the season. Only way I sign him is on a league minimum contract with appearance incentives. If that can't be done then I pass. Walker and Wood I'm all for. Both have high upside and would give us some good potential depth along with Dobnak, etc. Maybe a similiar type of deal that Peraz got last winter would work on both Wood and Walker? Toussaint is also my other desired acquisition. This is the plan I expect to be taken as I honestly don't think our FO has the moxie to pull off a major trade.

At first glance this list doesn't impress. But in all honesty a couple of these guys could be very helpful and in the case of Will Harris might even be very good. Harris has done nothing in his career except pitch very well. The other one that I could see us utilizing would be McHugh. I don't know if I'd sign him to the tune of 6mil but he's a guy who could be on either end of an opener scenario. He's actually had some decent runs as an SP throughout his career but might be better served as a pairing with someone like Graterol at this point.

I'll throw another name out for trade, Touki Tousaint of Atlanta. Young, talented, high upside and buried in Atlanta's depth chart.

Someone mentioned pairing him with Littel I believe. Littell the first two innings and then Graterol for four and then its handed off to the pen for 7-9. Graterol gets 120IP this way and Littell can still be used in between "starts". I'd get behind this if Graterol is ready. But it was mentioned that we could "develop him at the ML level. If he needs developing then send him to Rochester. We're contending at this point not using the ML to develop.

What next? I don't think there are a great number of options at this point. Or good ones either. But I would sign Walker first of all. Next is trade. I don't think Ray is really available right now. No to Price and Boyd. Clevinger is not happening here either if anywhere but Cle. Matz would intrigue me but the Mets look to be wanting to contend and I'd think Metz would stay as opposed to Wacha. That leaves Archer as maybe our best option for trade. If this is the best I'd like to see it pursued to success. WE have to have other options than just Smeltzer and Dobnak with no backup in place.

I believe Buxton too will be an FA after 2022 so that makes him very iffy if he will still be here for 2023.

It is faster moving this season. But on the trade front, very little.

The guys I would like to see the Twins get: Sign Walker- 2/13 Trade for both Ray and Steven Matz. No such thing as too much pitching. If at any point you have a glut there should be a buyer. No to Price, Boyd. Clevinger isn't realistic imo. Gray I'd be for also.

Thanks. Then if he is someone we actually want to pursue we should get it done then. I'd welcome Ray, but for the price mentioned. I'm not interested if the price is Larnach, Balozovic, etc. I'd have Duran as a no trade for Ray as well.

I would agree with trading for Ray for less than our non top 5 prospects. As for Ray, if we traded for him now we could extend a QO to him after the season if he wasn't extended thereby having him for 2 seasons. If however he was not acquired until after the season started is he then ineligible for a QO? I seem to remember that being the case. But I have heard AZ wanting to see how their season goes before considering a trade.

First they have to make the PO's and I don't see them as a shoe in as some do. CWS is much better. Cle has yet not torn its team apart. LAA, NYY, Tex among others have improved greatly. MN has stood pat with a team that over performed in 2019. I see a house of cards that with one or two cards giving way the whole house does. Having a rotation that is reliant on untested rookies is not a good way to offset other weakness imo.
