  1. As far as Cruz coming here, his options were pretty much us. I'm glad we have him but it isn't like he had much for choices.
  2. I also like the 6 year extension of Luis Robert, this after the 6 year deal to Eloy Jimenz last year. Nice to see their FO show some confidence in what they are doing. Since the Twins FO didn't sign the impact players they thought of signing it would be nice if they would sign the future impact players they have to deals. But I get it, there is a risk involved....
  3. Smart move and money by CWS. A move I would have liked by MN instead of Romo.
  4. Donaldson camp says, "4/110 gets it done". Are they lying? Or do they have a number that they would expect to get to sign? If Madbum is to be believed in leaving money on the table shouldn't Donaldson's people be believed too in this case? Just of note, I'm against signing Donaldson. Unless Sano or Cruz were traded for other help. I for one don't want Sano at 1B and he is blocked at the moment from DH. Not that I don't like JD. He's an impact player but the pieces just don't stick together quite right imo.
  5. Bottom line is we got no "impact" pitching, positive impact anyway. So how about our FO puts their money where their mouths are. We keep hearing about our prospects and how good they are and blah blah blah. Lets see them sign up Lewis, Kiriloff and Larnach for 6 year terms like CWS has done with Jimenez and Robert. If this is what we believe in, then show us. Enough of talk about windows and impact. Enough of shoving BS up ours.
  6. The first PO team they were sellers instead of buyers.
  7. I even understand not wanting to commit to longterm deals for FA pitching, even if I'd rather otherwise. Hence no Ryu. But I can't understand signing an ever injured SP and a Bailey whose bounce back 2019 was really not very good. Hamels and Tehran could have both been signed to 1 year deals and were far better than what we have.
  8. Exactly. Odorizzi is QOed instead of getting him signed for 4 years. Pineda is resigned but will miss 1/4 of the season. Bailey is worse than Gibson. Hill is a perpetual injury. This is a failure and it extends back to last off season.
  9. Having a starting rotation like we have put together is not going to be a tremendous lure for a veteran player whose goal is to win a championship.
  10. Boyd: 2 or 3 guys outside of our top 15. Sale: We take on all of his contract. We trade them Javier and Homer Bailey. Syndegaard: I'd trade them Buxton any day. He's injured a lot, right now actually. We can throw in a top 15-20 guy to get it done. Archer: I make that trade if I'm the Twins.
  11. Starlin Castro to the Nats on a 2/12. I wonder how that effects their pursuit of JD? I wouldn't rule out LAD being in play either.
  12. You left out Rich Hill. Here I thought he was our impact. I've been foiled by Homer again....
  13. I got no real information out of reading this post. So you succeeded.
  14. We wish it would be easy channing but I'm not so sure it will be quite as smooth sailing as last season. Cleveland has a much better rotation than we do and they have Lindor, Ramirez and some other solid players. CWS will not be easy wins this season either, not like the past. 3rd place would not be a surprise in the least to me.
  15. The thing is they've had since mid season of 2017 to address this weakness. What have we gotten since then? A trade for Jaimie Garcia. A Martin Perez signing. The signing now of Bailey and an injured Hill. The best they have done was to sign Lance Lynn as a last resort for him. This is failure at its worst.
  16. Yes money speaks, and the Twins aren't going to get these guys for lower offers. We were 18mil below Philly's deal for Wheeler. We were 20mil and a year short for Darvish. If Falvey wants this guy he will have to show him the money and do like the Yanks and wine and dine the guy. When NYY wanted Cole what did they do? They took him and his wife out on the town and opened a couple of bottles of the Cole's anniversary wine. What does a player get from the Twins? A phone call from Rocco. Not going to cut it, plus they are consistently short on offers of $$$$$.
  17. No we aren't. Even for 2020 our rotation is not set up for success. We can turn a blind eye to it and ignore the problems all we want but right now even Cleveland is the better team. Our starting rotation is poor at the moment. As it stands now after 2021 we stand to lose Sano and Rosario and Cruz and Odorizzi after this season.
  18. I don't know if this is the right thread for this or if its been mentioned on TD, Don Larsen died yesterday. He is the only pitcher to ever throw a perfect game/no hitter in World Series history. He did so for the Yankees in 1956. Against the Dodgers? I believe. He finished his career a not so great 81-91 overall.
  19. If we were going to trade for a 1B over signing Moreland or Thames I'd rather get Trey Mancini from Baltimore.
  20. My preference in all of these scenarios is to sign Moreland now. Get him signed before he finds another place to play. I don't think we're getting JD, I think his preference is Atl and he will let them match any offers we send his way. So if we have Moreland at 1B that leaves only 3B as the weak spot.
  21. So if the odds are that against Hill even pitching in 2020 why waste 3mil? Between the two they will get a minimum of 10 mil. 10mil would have went a long ways in signing Hamels and would have quite possibly gotten Tehran. I get we don't want to give up our financial flexibility but both these signed for 1 year and are far better than what we just got.
  22. By what standards is Rich Hill now one of the best?
  23. Bring back Terry Ryan. A far better dumpster diver was he. What a joke this org is.
  24. This is what I've been thinking too. Cron really wasn't too bad for the twins. The way I see it is if we did sign Donaldson I'd almost guess that we'd see a Sano trade. Yes this makes us much better on D but I'm not sure its an offensive upgrade at all. tbh signing JD is a splashy flashy move but no matter how I dice it I don't see it making us better. Maybe the opposite. But lets keep Sano off of 1B for any length of time.
