    Ain't gonna happen. Lewis would be crazy to take that deal. Kepler and Polanco but not someone like Lewis who has maga star written all over him.

    I agree with Nashvilletwin that maybe that is our 2026 starting lineup at some point during the year. I think the Twins have a bright future. The only thing that keeps me up at night is can we get rid of Correa and Buxton's salaries before we have to pay the Lewis and Duran's of the world.

    Lewis, but as of now, I don't know another player on the team to play with Lewis.Maybe in a year or two

    Throw out Mitchell and Fralick. We don't need more lefthanded-hitting outfielders. I'd rather put Gordon or Castro as backup centerfielders while Buxton is still healthy and after he goes down (I pray he doesn't butttt) then bring up Martin or Keirsay. The last thing I want is to sign another Joey Gallo that we hang onto all year long because they don't have options left. That is so painful.

    Braxton Garret seems very intriguing ..

    Castro because of his above-average defense and ability to steal bases for sure. But I could see Martin as a centerfielder backing up Buxton. What's cool about that is we get another utility player who can steal bases. I call that a utility payer stashed in the outfield. Kind of incognito ..Add the ability to get called up and down if need be and you've got a really intriguing player .. But for that to happen Martin has to follow through with a great spring training ..

    I think this if you don't make the bigs by the time you're 26 is dangerous.. Laurnach has a scarlet letter because of it. Not saying Keirsey doesn't have a lot of competition ahead of him but other than Martin no one else can come up and down as needed. Plus Buxton's knee could crumble anytime and there's a chance Gordon might not make the team or get traded. But Prato is the one that I hope makes it through. To me he's like Castro/Gordon a Swiss army knife.

    As of now positions players are in abundance but not pitchers. Salary cap problems should dictate young players with years of options and low salary's should only go if the value is very high. So the MOST touchable to clear cap space should be: Buxton .. but there is no willing takers Correa .. No trade clause Vazquez Polanco Kepler That's 84 minion in payroll. ------------------------------------ Not going to happen but could you imagine wheat we could do for the team if we had that kind of money to spend with the young talent we have on the team and in the minor leagues not to along with whatever we could get in return ... Sorry, I drifted off into fantasy land for a bit. Don't shoot me :)

    I cut my teeth on the 1962 Twins. Fond memories of sitting with my Uncle looking out over lake Minnewaska and listening to the Twins on the radio as a little league aged kid.

    Right on, Ted. Hopefully, we can trade Kepler or Polanco and maybe one of our mid-threat prospects to solve the fifth rotation starters Verlander will be an asset as either a starter if we don't or top-notch reliever. Personally, I'm happy we are forced to turn to our younger players due to our lack of money.

    Very good article, Cody. Spot on. I expect the Twins to try and add a mid-inning reliever or two. Maybe as a throw-in on a Kepler or Polanco trade. An astute observation about Pagan doing well in low-leveraged situations. I've always thought his lack of mental toughness kept him from performing well in high-leverage situations. That said, I think he's come a long way last year. I would love to have him back for at a reasonable price to be in the same role but no way I would pay anything close to what he got. You know Cinncinati isn't paying him that much to be anything but one of their three top relievers and that's where he's at his worst. Still, I will root for him to succeed.

    A small market teams strapped for cash needs all the Lee's they can find. His high ability, low salary for the foreseeable future is worth it's weight in gold.

    Thanks for daring to broach this subject Cody. I very openly concerned about the fact we resigned Correa last year and was opposed to it for many reasons with the risk of signing any player his age for a longterm 36 .Mill as a small market team. After all two teams passed due to medical. Concerns. FanGraph had his value at 9 mill. He's got a long way to back to a 18 million value which is only HALF his salary.. Personally I hope his anger about us not spending money waiving his no trade contract and demanding a trade. But I doubt we could find a partner willing to pay him more than 24 mill max, if that and we would have to throw in big money. The only reason the pre ious article is proposing trading Lee is because Correa is in his way. With our payroll problems do you think Correa is 36 times more valuable than Lee at a time we are strapped for cash.

    Young quality players with low salaries and many arbitration years left are worth their weight in gold to a small market team strapped for cash. No so much to a team with money to spend. We are who we are and have a nice nucleus of young players. I'm fine with where we are at ..

    Fair points. Guess we need to let another year go by to have this conversation again. I would love nothing more than you be right, but other than a great last month of the year in 2022 and a very good playoff series I just see a shell of what he used to be. Sure hope he doesn't get off to a horrible start the first half of next year like he has in 2022 and 2023
