    Exactly. This team is defensively challenged. They could strengthen it with Jenkins in Center, Cullpepper at short and now that EMA has been actived he could play right field strengthening all three positions. They all 3 have a high onbase percentage, power and only have to hit equal to Gray, Kreidler and Roden who is hitting .181 .. Minimum if any downside and potentially major uoside. BUT, it's not going to happen because the Twind do not want to start their service times.

    Play-Off odds.. He'll, their odds to win the Division might be better. Just dawned on me that the best way to get fans in the seats next year is to be the reigning divisional champion. Maybe they should go all out at the trade deadline.

    It just dawned on me with all the wildcard spot that we actually have a reasonable chance of winning the division. Nothing would get fans in the seats more next year than being the Division Champion.

    A potential lockout makes thing really up in the air about next year. But sure, if I knew the Twins woukd come uo with money to pay Jeffers one more year and if he signed elsewhere we got compensated I would be all for it. He could bridge the gap until Lackey arrived. But no, I don't think the Twins would come uo with the money.

    what confuses me is if the owners win the salary cap war and the Twins are mandated to spend 171 million, don't they want to sign Ryan to a multi year contract to help fill that gap? Maybe Jeffers as well BUT .. His replacement isn't far away and there is a lot of depth below him. But if the Twins get hot and move into contention maybe you just keep Jeffers for the play off run and them let him walk for nothing? If we do tag Jeffers does anyone know the salary commitment? And I wonder if that would keep a team from paying more leading to compensation. That would be kind of a game of chicken move.

    Im confused. If the new minimum might be 171 mill sounds like we need to spend alot MORE money. Signing Ryan to a 32 mill a year contract would make up half that gap. Let's sign Ryan then .. Jeffers and or Larnach can go because we have replacements coming up. Then spend another 12-15 mill in the off season strengthening out bullpen

    Well, we either trade Jeffers or lose him. Plus we have an over abundance of outfielders. So Jeffers and a left-handed outfielder makes sense. The big question is do we part ways with Ryan now or in the off season. And what do we get for him? We have infield, out field and Cather covered soon. Maybe a couple of high level pitching prospects in the minerleague and a mid rotation reliver?

    I don't expect the Twins to bring Jenkins up until September. They are more worried about his controllable years as they should be.

    What we need is clarity. So either get back into competition or drop out so we can make some big decisions come trade deadline.

    You knew the answer to your question was a hard no before you asked it. At least yiur article is about adding help to our relif core but hopefully the next article from any contributor is about more reasonable priced mid to back end talent.

    Agree the article followed it's title. Was just saying I haven't seen any articles focusing on the bullpen. It's as if no one wants to address the elephant in the room.

    It amazes me that almost every article seems to focus on shuffling lineups when we have ignored our bullpen since last off-season. There is no way we go anywhere without reforming the bullpen from outside the organization. And what's crazy is relief pitchers are the least expensive players to pay. And most likely the easiest to trade for. But I imagine management and followers will just keep a blinds eye to the penny and pretend it isn't are Achilles heal.

    If we want to stay in the hunt we need to trade for 2 relievers. We can keep Ryan and trade him in the off season But we won while Jeffers was out and have to catchers behind him. Jes, we would be better with Jeffers but, If we don't help the bullpen then even if we backed our way into post season we aren't going anywhere.

    I agree. Larnach has been much maligned for the last 3 years. Even if you don't see him as a centerpiece going forward due to Jenkins and Rodriguez he has trade value now.
