  1. It's too early to know how each and every tiebreaker in the West division will set up but it is possible for there to be a 3-way tie with a tie in the first tiebreaker. In that case the second tiebreaker is intradivision record, and in the case of a 3-way tie I believe Seattle would wind up holding that tiebreaker. And if you factor in Toronto, well, I didn't try to figure that out. So what it amounts to is we just have to wait and see how it all transpires. It's reasonable to expect that we will be the #3 seed with our opponent not determined until the last day or two of the season
  2. KC 3, Houston 2. 263 is still in play.
  3. This is correct. I erred in my earlier post.
  4. This is almost correct. As of this morning, the best possible scenarios for the Twins are for Houston to finish at 88-74, Texas to finish at either 87-75 or 88-74, and Seattle to finish at either 87-75 or 88-74. Houston would hold the tiebreakers so they would be West division champions, and if the Twins go 6-2 they would get the #2 seed because they hold the tiebreaker with Houston. It's possible, anyway.
  5. Chief, you tried but it was too late. The damage had been done. Tlaker, let this be a lesson.
  6. That's not considered a jinx because Junior Ortiz didn't have a number on his jersey. He had the letter O.
  7. People should keep in mind that Billy Hamilton wore zero. Junior Ortiz wore his initial, the letter O.
  8. I hereby promise not to utter or write any statement that could be interpreted as a jinx during tonight's game. By clicking "like" you promise to do the same.
  9. I think the start time will depend on the opponent. For example, if we host Seattle I doubt we would get the earliest start time. If we host Toronto I expect we would. Games involving New York teams typically get the prime viewing time but since neither team qualified it's harder to project.
  10. A player who is experiencing ANYTHING out of the ordinary should report it to the medical team. Let them determine what he can attempt to play through and what he shouldn't. Do not let a player's bravado or false machismo cause an injury to be aggravated or to persist unnecessarily. (Are you listening, Joe Ryan?) Yes, players should be commended for being willing to play with pain, but that should be allowed only if it's cleared by the medical staff first and won't hurt the team.
  11. KC 7, Cle 6. Bring on the Harmons!
  12. Gotta get Jeffers behind the plate in at least two of every three games come October
  13. Reinsdorf just doesn’t get it. After 2016 Jim Pohlad recognized that the Twins needed not just new management but a complete reboot of the entire organization. It appears to me that the White Sox desperately need the same thing to take place and that will never happen under Reinsdorf.
  14. There’s no question that the top priority is to have him functioning as well as possible on October 3 and beyond. I am certain that the team will act with that in mind. For people on this website to post a specific regimen is silly because we simply don’t know enough. And whether he plays or not, if we can’t qualify for the postseason during the remaining 11 games we don’t deserve to make it.
  15. So will Target decide to spend even more for a patch when they already spend plenty for the naming rights? Is that a cost-effective PR expenditure?
  16. Please, no Wisconsin references on a Minnesota uniform.
  17. Bumping this. The Twins have to pass three teams (Houston, Texas, and Seattle) to beat out the ALW winner. Because of games those teams have remaining against one another the most favorable possible result in the ALW is a tie between Houston and Texas at 86 wins with Seattle at 85 wins. If all three of those teams lose every remaining game against opponents other than themselves, and if Houston wins 2 of its 3 remaining games against Seattle, and if Seattle wins 3 of its 7 remaining games against Texas, the Twins would gain the #2 postseason seed with a 7-5 finish to their season. Any departure from that increases the number of games the Twins need to win. With tiebreakers accounted for, Houston’s magic number over us is 8, and for Texas and Seattle it’s 10. The Twins have been eliminated from passing Baltimore and Tampa Bay
  18. It’s the classic dilemma. He can’t face lefties because he doesn’t have experience and he can’t get experience because he doesn’t face lefties. The obvious solution is to get experience in low leverage situations. The ninth inning of the game against Tampa Bay was not that.
  19. The Atlanta lineup is arguably one of the top five 1-9 lineups in the history of MLB.
  20. Could someone from the “officially done” cohort please answer this: what exactly does that mean? Are you going to boycott the team or something?
  21. If Ober is rejuvenated by the rest he’s been getting while on the AAA roster he should be the fourth starter if and when we get to that point.
  22. The Twins must finish ahead of Cleveland to advance to the postseason. Cleveland holds the tiebreaker.
