  1. I don't think there is anything about this roster that I disagree with.
  2. These projected odds can be disregarded. There are too many things that can happen in an individual baseball game to come up with odds favoring either team, especially to within 0.1%. To claim that level of precision is so far beyond the threshold of ridiculous that it's barely worth commenting on. And even if these odds were significant the odds are close enough to 50% that there would be nothing surprising--nothing at all--for the team with lower odds to win any of the three games.
  3. I want to mention this: 11-4 (.733) in our last 15 regular season games. Level of competition notwithstanding, this team seems very capable of taking care of business.
  4. I have tix for the first round. When I visit Target Field my default meal is the Kramarczuk bratwurst with as much kraut as the server feels they are allowed to pile on. But these sound delish. Walleye slider? Don't know if I'll be able to resist that.
  5. There will be no delay or blackout for me for the first round. I'll be in the upper deck on the third base side. After that, TBD.
  6. Rays 10, Jays 3. Stros 6, Snakes 0. Mariners 1, Rangers 0. If these scores hold up we get the Jays. If Texas turns the score around we get Houston.
  7. No. It's canceled. The seeding will be set by straight winning percentage.
  8. No. Phoenix is at about 1100 feet elevation as opposed to 5300. Plus, dry air is more dense than humid air.
  9. That game has already been canceled by MLB.
  10. Rays 8, Jays 0. Astros 5, Snakes 0. Arizona's traveling secretary currently securing travel to and lodging in Milwaukee.
  11. It wouldn't surprise me if Dick Bremer retires before next season starts. He's 67 and the Twins' broadcast rights are highly uncertain. I think he's done a good job over the years; he is skilled at finding the sweet spot between unabashed fan and professional broadcaster.
  12. Houston up 2-0 after 2 batters. The 2 seed is within their reach with help from Seattle.
  13. Chief, how did you go about hacking into CRF's account?
  14. Looks like the StarTrib's own Bobby Nightengale was the first to report this. I would expect that all teams affected (D-backs, Marlins, Mets, Brewers, and Phillies) were part of the discussion and that all parties agreed that it wasn't worth the bother. Not only would there be extra travel for Miami but neither Miami nor Arizona would have been able to make travel arrangements until after the game was completed. If not finishing the game would affect the seeding, so what? I don't think any of the four postseason teams would have objected to either possible pairing. And I certainly don't think the Mets wanted anything to do with having to show up for 4 outs worth of baseball. All in all, MLB got this one right.
  15. Here is the update as of the morning of October 1. (Last edit at 11:47 AM CST to account for cancellation of Monday's possible game.) American League Baltimore is the 1 seed, Minnesota is the 3 seed, Tampa Bay is the 4 seed. If Houston loses, OR if Texas wins, Houston wins, and Toronto wins: Texas is the 2 seed, Toronto is the 5 seed, Houston is the 6 seed. If Texas wins, Houston wins, and Toronto loses, Texas is the 2 seed, Houston is the 5 seed, Toronto is the 6 seed. If Houston wins and Texas loses: Houston is the 2 seed, Texas is the 5 seed, Toronto is the 6 seed. National League Atlanta is the 1 seed, Los Angeles is the 2 seed, Milwaukee is the 3 seed, Philadelphia is the 4 seed. If Arizona wins and Miami loses, Arizona is the 5 seed, Miami is the 6 seed. If Miami wins or Arizona loses, Miami is the 5 seed, Arizona is the 6 seed.
  16. I suspect ITF meant round 2, not game 2.
  17. Nope. Toronto holds the tiebreaker against Houston.
  18. stringer bell caught me in an edit. Check my edited reply to LA Vikes Fan.
  19. Nope. At least not yet. If Houston wins tomorrow and Texas loses tomorrow Houston gets the 2 seed via the tiebreaker. Texas then gets the 5 seed and we play Toronto. If Houston loses tomorrow Texas gets the 2 seed, Toronto gets the 5 seed and we get Houston.
  20. Houston beats Arizona 1-0. Houston is in, Seattle is out.
  21. The Texas win also puts Toronto into the postseason.
  22. Seattle is not yet eliminated, contrary to what Dick has said on the air. However, if Houston's 1-0 lead over Arizona holds up that will put Houston in and Seattle out. Also, St. Louis has eliminated the Reds and put Arizona into the postseason.
  23. Texas beats Seattle to clinch a postseason berth.
  24. Y'know, even in a game like tonight's jinxes still apply.
