  1. Our starter is the house of cards who goes by the name of Dallas Keuchel. If a house of cards is built properly it can be impressive but everything has to be perfect. And it always collapses eventually, often spectacularly. Let’s hope that tonight is not collapse night.
  2. My idea was just a quick thought, not a serious well-researched proposal. I’m sure there are other issues as well. Maybe have a draft of all players either waived or DFA’d, maybe every month, I don’t know. I just think there must be a way to improve on the current system that would be more fair for players and for all teams.
  3. Profuse thanks to Heezy1323 for contributing his expertise as an orthopedic surgeon to this discussion. It’s so valuable to learn what an expert has to say as opposed to someone with little to no knowledge saying “all Buck needs is surgery and he’ll be ready in February” or “get rid of him, he’ll never recover “.
  4. How could anyone give this news thumbs up?
  5. Here’s an idea: No player may be waived between the trade deadline and August 31. On that day all waivers are announced and a draft is held with each team selecting 1 player at a time (or declining to make a selection). These players would be eligible for the postseason. There would need to be a way to discourage tanking during August, possibly a lottery of some sort to determine the selection order. I have an idea for how a lottery could be done but I’m not going to go into details now. Would this work?
  6. 3 innings in 35 minutes. That’s good pitching.
  7. I hate trying to participate in the game thread on my phone. Very cumbersome. I will be thankful for my repaired computer to be back soon.
  8. Rangers wearing high school softball uniforms tonight.
  9. I haven’t read the other comments and I probably won’t. I’ll just say it’s obvious to me that when our turn came around no available player was worth getting. So coming up empty is good.
  10. Professionals are able to put personal differences aside when it comes to performing their jobs. Sometimes it’s hard, but it can be done. Joey Ramone and Johnny Ramone had numerous personal differences but their shared commitment to the band made the band great.
  11. What would be more revealing is to somehow compare Arraez to Julien and Solano, since they are the main ones who replaced him. Also, I understand that you are comparing these two as hitters, but because Jeffers plays a much more important role on the field it starts to become apples vs oranges.
  12. The game is far from over. RL will probably have at least 3 more plate appearances.
  13. That wouldn’t surprise me. Even though I think that’s silly I guess it would be progress in the right direction. So I would grudgingly accept it, especially if the choice was either the challenge system or no change.
  14. I’m not sure but I think the expanded roster lets a player be called up without any restrictions.
  15. I’m sure these percentages differ when the game is tied in the home half of the ninth (or later) inning. In that circumstance if the batter is a good bunter I would almost always bunt with a runner on 2nd and none out. And I’m far more likely to squeeze with a runner on 3rd and one out.
  16. Funderburk has pitched all season too, so he’ll need as much rest as everyone else.
  17. No doubt Rocco is breathing a little more easily after this win. He lives to manage another day.
  18. Good to hear the other team’s perspective.
  19. Actually probably an easy conversation. I think he’ll only be away for one skipped start. He’ll be back in the rotation in 10 days or so.
  20. If we split the 6 games we’ll be in a much better position than we are in now.
