    I'm still hoping for a quality pitcher too, plus we obviously need more catching prospects. But if some young talent like Clark is still available at the 5 pick, you gotta grab him.

    Well, at least he hasn't been on the IL yet this year! Hey, Pagan is what he is. Not someone you are going to use as a closer, and someone you definitely should not use in a high-leverage situation. He's serviceable, and that's about it. Right now, he's another body in the bullpen and we still have a need for him.

    Hmm ... at the rate that injuries are happening this season, along with Keirsey's recent impressive performance, we might see him in the show THIS year.

    Just no predicting this team at this point. Joe Ryan goes from pitching his finest game in a Twins uniform to perhaps his very worst. Baseball is a funny (as in strange) game.

    During the off-season I was still sitting on the fence in regards to Duran. Keep him as reliever or let him try starting again? But at this point, it's clear the bullpen is his role, and man is he a monster in that role. Great to have him. Definitely deserving of an All-Star spot as weitz41 suggested.

    Every year I'm eager for the Twins will make a trade and go "all in" to both make the playoffs and advance in the playoffs. But this year I don't feel the urge. Mainly, because I think we have the pieces to compete, if only they were all healthy and perform as expected. And also, I really don't want to give up any more prospects (good, great, or even mediocre) for players that may not be with us another year down the road. Hey, if it's the end of July and it looks like we can't even win the Central, then go ahead and sell off any disposable assets that we have, but otherwise, I'm content to go forward with what we have, warts and all.

    I sure hope you are right and we can win some games or at least give the Braves a battle. But that team is darn good, and I'm not feeling very optimistic about this series.

    Well, not exciting news, but I don't hate it. He's a veteran pitcher who hopefully is savvy enough to deal with his loss of velocity and still pitch well enough to get batters out. He's not TOO old yet, so maybe he still has something in the tank and can contribute if we need him. Hopefully, he has more upside than a veteran arm like Sanchez. If nothing else, he's well rested at this point!

    Once again, Ryan steps up, and this time in a BIG way. Thank you again to Tampa Bay for that present! Of course we had to give up 2 months of Nelson Cruz to get him, but man, that ranks as a steal at this point. Meanwhile, let's score some runs for Maeda too!

    At some point it's all a matter of semantics. Use a 5-man rotation, throw in a bullpen game with an "opener" whenever you need it, and just roll with whatever feels right. But the way our staff is pitching lately ... the more rest they get, maybe the better they will perform. As for Maeda, I hope he will be a starter and stay there if his performance warrants it.

    When I glanced at the headline of this post my first thought was: except the Twins don't have a player with nearly the ability or charisma of Anthony Edwards, But then I read the full article and found myself nodding in agreement. Great article! And as you noted, Lewis has, BY FAR, the most ability and charisma or any player currently on the team. I hope he can be the leader that they seem to need.

    Royce Lewis is playing with a lot of energy, plus it looks like he's having fun. What a combination!

    Baddoo has looked better this season after getting called up again by Detroit. But he hasn't played in about a week after going on the 10-day IL.

    I almost forgot about Raley. From out of nowhere, he's become an important piece of the Tampa Bay offense this season.

    Good to see the minor league teams winning some games. Also a somewhat encouraging performance by Woods-Richardson. I really hope he gets back on track and can go deeper in games.

    I also loved that video of the 2 runners scoring on the sac fly. Man, you said it: Keirsey can fly!

    If we need some extra bats, maybe we can talk Trevor Plouffe out of retirement. Hell, I'd even welcome back an overweight Miguel Sano at this point.

    From what Rocco said, it sounds like we are likely NOT going to see Buxton play in the outfield this year. But if he's in that bad of shape, why would you even want him running the bases? Oh yeah, I forgot: he's either striking out or hitting home runs, so running the bases isn't a factor. Okay, he DID have the single today, but still, if he's that fragile just put him on the IL and get him healthy again.

    Yeah, that's good for Cleveland, but then again Tampa Bay had problems beating the A's last week, so who knows?

    Man, another big day for Eddie Rosario in Atlanta. He went 3 for 6 with 2 homers and 6 RBI. I'm still not regretting we parted ways with him, but then again, having a productive bat, even one as erratic as Eddie's, in the Twins' lineup sure would be nice.

    Maybe not much room in AAA, but Kiersey certainly deserves a promotion. Give him a shot and see if he continues to produce like he has been doing.
