  1. This is only from my daily box score watching, but in the past week or so, ever since that players-only meeting, it seems like Correa and Buxton are increasing their number of walks. Whatever it takes to cut down on those strikeouts!
  2. He has certainly turned into a very productive "under the radar" pickup for the Twins this year. Without him and Taylor and Farmer, things would be a LOT more bleak this season.
  3. I love reading these minor league reports and appreciate the details. But all too often I have no idea which player is in the photo at the top of the page!
  4. One positive aspect to this season is that the Twins seem to have more depth in their system in regards to pitching. We have several good arms who could be called up and do a good job if needed, unlike in past years when we seemed to continually picking up pitchers that had been put on waivers or released by other teams. That said, we still may need another quality (not sure how to define "quality", but there you go) pitcher from outside the organization to bolster the bullpen down the stretch.
  5. Yeah, Schobel looking like a keeper this year, whereas Enlow is losing traction quickly. Not what we hoped for when we drafted Enlow.
  6. The more I read about Nowlin, and following his outings, I don't think it's so far-fetched that he can reach the majors, at least in some capacity. He just has that look, and hopefully enough control to make his stuff work at a higher level.
  7. Agreed! Seems like every week I notice a new "cool" name amongst the minor leaguers. But alas, not many can come as close at the late great Urban Shocker.
  8. I was pretty much content to just let this current team sink or swim. I really don't want to give up any more prospects at this point. That said, due to injuries and the Pagan factor, I think we need another quality arm in the bullpen, but that's also assuming that we are still in contention a month from now and look like we stand a serious chance of advancing in the playoffs. Our starting pitching is pretty much set, and most of the position players are capable of performing better than they have been.
  9. Thinking about ex-Twins, what is the current status of Chris Archer? Unless I missed it, he's not pitching for anyone this year.
  10. Obviously there is a lot of angst and distrust of Pagan. I've gone back and forth as to whether the team should keep him, but at this point I'm ready to say "enough is enough". I do think the front office needs to make a decision before the end of July. If it looks like this team can win the division, they certainly DO need to go out and get a more reliable reliever than Pagan. As you noted, even with a big lead he often coughs up the long ball. We need someone MUCH more reliable.
  11. I would have chosen Ruiz too, but as you noted, Rooker's home run total was probably what got him the nod. Hard to pick a player from a dismal Oakland team this year, but it's still cool that Rooker made it this far.
  12. Yeah, it was brutal seeing Buxton robbed of another extra-base hit again today. Great fielding by the Orioles outfielders, just a shame that Buck was the victim two days in a row. But hey, the silver lining it that he is hitting the ball hard again and not just whiffing every time up.
  13. I'm shocked that Duran wasn't selected. Hopefully, one or two pitchers won't be able to make the game due to injuries (I think the Tampa Bay pitcher is already on the IL), so all hope is not last. Duran definitely deserves to be included.
  14. Thanks for another great report, along with the videos too. I love reading and watching these highlights. Very encouraging to see so many of our prospects performing well, and guys like Culpepper getting moved up and still looking impressive. Hey, even an old guy like Keuchel had a good game. Even after losing players like Steer, Encarcion-Strand, and others in trades last year, we still seem pretty well stocked with quality prospects.
  15. I still keep hoping we will see Buxton in center field at some point this year. I mean, the man is an elite fielder, so why are being teased? Not being privy to his full health status, it still bewilders me why there isn't any sign that he will play in the field anytime soon. Even as a DH, he still runs the bases fairly well. It's not like he's hobbling and needs a pinch runner once he reaches base (although, outside of the home runs and strikeouts, those times on base are rare). So what really is the prognosis?
  16. A very enjoyable and informative report. Thanks for posting that. Cool photos too!
  17. Yes indeed, that catch by Hays was amazing, and certainly prevented another run or two from scoring. Good to see Buxton at least making contact with the ball again!
  18. Good point. Like others have said, both Kiriloff and Lewis haven't played much during the past 3 years. Hopefully, both players are healthy. Kiriloff's wrist was a huge concern for many of us over the offseason, some people even wondering if he would even play again. Well, so far so good, even after a very disappointing month of June. But yeah, patience is the word. Except that this team is expected by many fans to win the division and advance in the playoffs, and right now it's not looking good for those goals. With so many veterans underperforming, we need a healthy and productive Kiriloff in the lineup.
  19. Didn't the team hire a new trainer and/or physical therapist during the offseason? That doesn't seem to have produced any noticeable results yet either.
  20. I agree completely. Hey, we all love Arraez and many here wish he was still with the Twins, Plus, he's having a season for the ages, while our beloved Twins seem determined to flounder in a weak Central division. I understand people wishing Arraez was still with the Twins. But we needed better starting pitching and so far Lopez has been what we needed in the rotation. As great as Arraez has been this year, questions still remain about his long-term health and ability to play in the infield. He'll probably end up being as good as Rod Carew was, but thinking back, those old Twins teams didn't have many post-season appearances either.
  21. Happy to Dobnak pitching well again. Never say never. He could end up being called up again before the season is done. I realize that there are several other pitchers in the queue ahead of him, but I'd still love to see him pitching for Minnesota again. Meanwhile, there is Wallner, still raking in AAA. Like others here are urging; call him up ASAP!
  22. Agreed. Shut down both Buxton and Correa, or just admit that they have peaked in their late 20s and will never be impact players again. Okay, that's harsh, but what we are seeing this year is not encouraging.
  23. I'm still gung-ho on the idea of drafting Noble Meyer. Love the name, but his stats and makeup are intriguing too, plus I really want a great pitching prospect. But ... I don't think he makes the top five picks. As others have said, just pick the best player and don't be too cute!
