  1. Ugh, the pitching is not looking too good all of a sudden. Giving up so many runs in back-to-back games against the Royals?! Double ugh!! On the bright side, Buxton had three hits and didn't strike out at all! Plus, Kepler is looking locked in for a change. Keeps those bats hot, but man, let's get the pitching back on track.
  2. Very good point. I can't imagine that being sent up and down repeatedly is very helpful to a player's development. I'm sure a psychologist out there might have better insight, but if I'm the player being shuttled back and forth I would get very frustrated if not feeling angry at being treated that way. Sure, that's the nature of the game, but most players in that situation would start to wonder if he is truly valued by the team.
  3. John Castino!? Ouch! Not an encouraging scenario.
  4. The Lopez trade this week was a surprise, but I wouldn't expect much more activity from the Twins. Maybe another minor tweak or two, but certainly no major trades. But hey, go ahead and surprise me!
  5. Good point, When the trade was made I'm sure most of us were more sad at the loss of Povich. Cano just seemed like a throw-in at the time. Ah, this crazy game of baseball!
  6. Happy to see Woods-Richardson with a good outing, even though it wasn't a very lengthy one. Nevertheless, it seems like he's had more good games than duds lately.
  7. I wouldn't lose any sleep if the Twins traded Larnach. But realistically, what could they get for him? Basically, I'm sitting on the fence as far as to what value he might have for the Twins, but right now it's a case of too many cooks in the kitchen for the Twins, so if we can get a decent player with some potential for him, go ahead and do it.
  8. I think both Taylor and Solano have value to our club. Gallo, not so much. Kepler is looking like a keeper all of a sudden, so Gallo is about the only one I would dump at this point.
  9. I agree, As much as I would love to see Julien in the running, barring injuries or some sort of implosion, I think either Jung or Henderson ends up winning the award.
  10. Well, yeah, I am a bit concerned about Ryan lately. Seems like he hasn't been the same since that complete game he pitched about a month ago. Some have suggested that he skips a turn in the rotation or needs more rest, and honestly I don't know what the answer is at this point. But he's not looking like a pitcher we can count on if we make the playoffs.
  11. My first thought was total surprise: I didn't see a trade like this coming at all. Second thought: Lopez will be a LOT more comfortable in Miami and turn back into an All-Star caliber player again. And of course it will go down as yet another trade where the Twins get fleeced. But actually, as others have noted, this could indeed end up being one of those win-win trades. I know next to nothing about Floro, but he seems like a solid addition to the pen. I certainly am pulling for Lopez and his family too. I hope he thrives in Miami.
  12. Good to see that his recent performance was recognized! Great to have him healthy again and helping the team win some games.
  13. A very brave post and one that was quite informative. Thanks for that! It seems like anytime that Pagan implodes it's a most inopportune time, but otherwise his performances are pretty good. Not the guy I want to see with the game on the line, but otherwise he's pretty useful.
  14. I read the opening paragraphs and almost lost it: Kirilloff ... shut down for the season. WTF?! And then I re-read it and realized that the article was referring to 2022. Whew! Big sigh of relief! We need that guy in the lineup!
  15. I haven't heard anything recently about the status of Paddack. It's almost August; any updates? At this point I assume he won't pitch at all this season.
  16. I sort of think you have the right idea. Some interesting names being floated as trade targets, and a few of them would certainly help our team down the stretch, but at what cost? I really really really don't want to give up any valuable prospects at this point for players that "might" win us a couple of extra games. Just roll with what we have and hope for the best. If we are healthy --- sure, that's a big "if" -- I think this team can actually win a playoff series.
  17. A lot of grief about Gallo, and that's understandable, but does anyone honestly think that he has any trade value at this point?
  18. Well, that game definitely showed that we need more arms in the bullpen, especially healthy arms and ones that are not too tired. A tough loss, but then again Julio Rodriguez is a darn good hitter.
  19. Another big game for Andrew Stevenson. He would seem ready for a callup, but frankly, I don't know if he'd get much playing time these final two months of the season. Does anyone think that he might get promoted before the season is over?
  20. Yeah, his average his dipped quite a bit, but he's had a few timely homers for San Diego in his short time there. But man, what a black hole catching has become for the Padres.
  21. Speaking of injury updates, any idea on when we might see Nick Gordon again?
  22. Meanwhile, in the new nickname department, kudos on coming up with Bechtani. I love it!
