Who leads the team in home runs

Who leads the 2014 Twins in home runs? Last year's leader--Brian Dozier--will be back with the team, but I would consider him a long shot.

When is Sano up?

 

I'd wager Arcia hits 21-24.

 

If Sano is up by Mid May, that is he plays 120g, he'll hit more than Arcia.

Sano or Arcia for me. I don't think Sano will be up until June/July. So Arcia will have will have more AB

Tough question. I think Dozier's swing is good enough for him to pull another 15 or more home runs. Arcia's power will be dampened a bit by TF but he'll have a full season. He should get to 20. Sano won't be up early enough. Willingham will rebound and have a strong season - over 25 homers. But he might be traded at the deadline.

It was between Willingham and Arcia for me. I went with Arcia having a breakout year hitting 25-30 homeruns.

My guess is Arcia with 24. I don't think Willingham will prevail as he is often injured, and if he is not, I'd expect him to get traded mid-season. I don't think Sano gets the AB's for the title, though I'll be he is second on the team.

I also went with Arcia. His bat has always been his calling card and after getting acclimated last year he will hit 28 this year. Willingham will finish August with 20 and be just behind Arcia, before he is traded to a contender. Mauer will shock the sports world and go over 20 HR's again. He finishes with 21, with 15 going to LF. Sano gets called up in mid-June and hits 14 HR's, but only hits .240. Dozier regresses in the HR department and hits 14 as well.

I think Arcia still might have some growing pains to get through this year. The kid can rake though. I voted for Willingham, half optimistically with the hope that a healthy wrist/knee can push his production back up. Age isn't on his side though.

 

I think that Mauer surprises many and hits somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-22 HRs

I have to see Dozier continue to be a player he's never been before (slugger) after pitchers adjust to him. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he didn't even make the top 5 for the team next year. He's a complete wildcard.

Love it! I was trying to get a number in my head for how many Arcia hits and when I saw your 28, I knew it was the right number to guess.

 

I agree also with old goat that Sano will not light the league on fire and have growing pains but I think he will still hit HRs at a high level with a lot of strike outs and a lower batting average.

Mauer will hit 25, write it down. If Arcia can out-perform that (WHOO-HOO) then so be it. Hammer will be traded if he's hits 10-15 in the first half. Dozier is probably solid for 15-20. Plouffe will hit 20. Sano will hit 20 in an obscenely low number of PAs. Doumit (not on the list) will hit 15 in a limited role.

 

The second year of Bruno's hitting philosophy will see better hitters driving the ball better and striking out less. Enjoy!

Mauer won't hit 25 homers unless he's traded to the Red Sox. He only hit 28 dingers playing in the Dome and a large percentage of those homers were opposite field, barely-cleared-the-fence home runs.

Mauer driving the ball with fresh legs is going to be a beautiful sight to behold. I stand by my prediction.

Arcia hit 24 in about 530 PAs last year between AAA and the Bigs. I don't see why he can't do that in a full season with the Twins next year.

 

Next year will be the last year this decade that we don't have a player hit 30+. I like both Arcia and Sano to routinely hit 30+ once they establish themselves.

I chose Arcia, although it's hard to say just how he'll be used, and how many pa's he'll get. I head down there tomorrow to get ready to put in my say.
