He has a FIP of 3.54. With the Twins. This is an example of the overall stats regressing to the peripherals. He’s not a closer.

I would like to see a breakdown by player of challenges won and lost.  In my view from the couch, it appears that the hitters are horrible at challenges.  Often it seems like they make chaleenges because they are pissed at themselves for taking a called strike.  Maybe batters should be forbidden to make challenges?

How many times this season has he been unable to go beyond 5 innings because of a high pitch count? Seems like a lot.

This is Tom Pohlad's idea of competitive, just like every Pohlad that came before him. The final week of the season comes and we haven't been mathematically eliminated from the WC. That is the competitiveness that the Pohlad's have always tried to sell the base. This is the way it will be as long as we have Pohlads and Falveys and Zolls running this team.

I took a look.  He threw 90 or more pitches 19 times this season.  I counted 6 of those in which he did not complete 6 full innings - I chose a slightly different threshold than you stated, in the belief that today's game considers 6 innings the minimum for a start to be really good (given other factors such as runs allowed also being good).

Taj Bradley, as a comparison, had 24 such games, and completed less than 6 innings 7 times.  That's a little bit better ratio, but not so stark that I would call Ryan deficient by comparison.

I'm lazy and that's as far as I'm taking it.   Perhaps I could automate the process a little bit using b-r.com's Stathead feature - but have I mentioned that I'm lazy?  😁
