well,,,rules can change...on the check swing issue (I am in favor of it as a challenge...an umpire on 1st and 3rd on a rainy night or not paying attention is supposed to make a call from a distance and angle) . Players would not favor the pitcher return issue. ...

I agree.  MLB should actually define a check swing.  Part of the issue has been that they have been stressing this season that the home plate umpire make the call more since it is technically that ump's call and only appeal when he asks for help.  I'm not sure how the plate ump is supposed to track the pitch and the bat at the same time,

Just a classic twins/yankees late collapse. Whenever the curse seems ready to be broken, you get a good reminder it’s not
