Interesting item for the old folks who remember the As from their heyday years (only 1 other team has won 3 or more consecutive WS). Blue Moon Odom will be placed in their hall of fame today....he is still alive. His career stats were not great but he had some great series and playoff appearances. Also had quite a rough history...had lockerroom fights with Vida Blue and later Rollie Fingers. He was shot trying to stop a robbery during his playing days and later had a police standoff with a shotgun. Regardless...reminded me of that team with so many stars and a dynasty...led by the goofy owner Charlie Finley.

I didn’t realize the Rangers lost yesterday to the Mariners. Last I checked, they were up 3-0 late. 

Zack Pierce broke it down on the Twin Cities Territory podcast. If Texas loses just one game and Toronto loses 2/3 in their weekend series AND the Twins sweep Cleveland, our hometown 9 will be a mere game out of the WC loss column with 13 to play. 

Quite simple when you think about it.

The drive to win 16 straight games starts tonight. 1 game at a time win tonight to start the streak. One becomes 2 2 becomes 3, and three becomes 4 and go from there. Is it probable no, can it be done yes. Win each day and each at bat, and the streak begins.  Twins have been left for dead already. Which means we can sneak up on teams. Start the streak tonight. You never know when a team get's hot to end the year what can happen. Nobody expects them to do anything. Everyone else thinks they have things wrapped up. 2% chance is still a chance.

Messick... geez, 2.53 ERA in 28 starts.  Where does Cleveland find these young pitchers, seemingly every single year!

I'd love to have a team do that.... but of the 20-some MLB cities I have visited I can confidently say Cleveland ranks dead last... and I wasn't even there in winter!

Yup, I think 3 times.  Sister-in-law lives there now.  Not a fan either. Endless sprawl of a thousand strip malls.  Seemed like 200 miles from the airport to downtown.  Bottom 3.

Detroit is low too.  I *loved* old Tiger stadium, but with that gone I don't feel any need to go back.

The one bad thing about the old Detroit stadium was the beams that obstructed viewing. For some seats......I had to laugh about the people mover which transported people amoung empty buildings downtown...lived in the Houston area in the early 80s...cost $1.00 for an outfield seat...Ryan.  JR. Richard (not sure many will recall him)

Yeah, I can see how the beams would be bad for obstructed views.  I was only there once. Seats maybe 3rd row of 2nd deck on the LF line, which in my memory was stacked directly above the first level.   They were really great seats compared 2nd deck of modern parks.  So much closer to the action.  The neighborhood was pretty dilapidated and the park was obviously very dated, but it sure had history.
