I do think the umpires purposely mess with rookies.  They may justify it as helping teams identify who the hothead redass guys are.  I think it adds nothing to the sport, and it happens too often to be just a coincidence.

I'll defend Jeffers on that third strike.  We have been dogpiling on Lewis for a while now about trying to stretch to reach that pitch and to just leave it alone.  If it's a strike, you tip your cap to the pitcher.  Seems a little hypocritical to bemoan Jeffers of letting a pitch go he knows he can't get to.

You leave Larnach in and it’s either Larnach against a guy all over the place or Larnach and his .800 ops against a righty. That’s a win win situation. Yes I know that Larnach isn’t good against lefties, but let’s not act like Gonzalez was lighting the world on fire in AAA. He had a roughly league average OPS
