It's a seaport town. Pilot ships bring the big ships in.  I doubt it is anything more complex than that, but it could be researched I suppose.

I guess everyone who said be sellers at the trade deadline were wrong. Boy those pitchers are really helping. It was very clear the Twins were not a playoff team, they have some very good parts & young players. The prize is in the next few years. Build for that. Half measures produce half results.

The real reason for the name Pilots is because that there used to be a lot of horse stables there in the early years and in order to keep the stables clean they hired lots of extra workers to pile it here and pile it there.  Thus the Pilots.
