I have to admit I thought they would move Wallner at the deadline even for a bag of balls.  It feels like the organization has made their determination on him and I understand why.  But why is he even in the organization anymore, it's not like we have a shortage of outfielders.  I actually still think there is something there, but if there is, it needs to happen with another organization.

Roden may still have potential, but they've tried this year and it hasn't worked.  It doesn't mean he can't get another shot in 2027 but I'm ready to move on for the next six weeks.  A career OPS+ of 53 doesn't play for a shortstop, much less a corner outfielder.  Be it Jenkins, Wallner, or someone picked up from the waiver wire the Twins just have to get better production from the corner outfield spots. 

Roden is getting less than 2 PAs per game played since he was called up. Thats not a situation very many players would be able to take advantage doing.

What about the other 2 stints in the major league he has had, he didn't have success in those either. He started fairly regularly for Toronto for the first month of last season before being demoted.  He is running out of time.

before that was his major league debut.

If you don’t look at advanced analytics that’s on you. He’s walking more than he’s struck out this year, he’s hitting the ball hard but Shelton is sticking with the vets. 

Acting like 210 PAs split up across 3 unique stints is enough to say he’s a nobody is just so silly to me. Freaking Mike Trout posted an OPS of about .650 in his first 150 PAs. Roden’s longest stint was 112 PAs.

But Roden will be 27 before next season begins.  At some point he has to show more.  Right now there may not be better options but that could easily change.  And if he doesn't show more soon, I don't think he should be blocking younger guys with more upside.  Shelty is actually treating him like a vet right now in my opinion.  But Toronto obviously did not see enough in his debut to keep them from trading him.  He is quickly moving past prospect status.

He did show more at AAA than any of the other twins prospects have shown at AAA this year. I think he deserves a shot.

Roden was on a playoff Blue Jays team that was stacked with corner OFs and then traded to a team also stacked with corner OFs. Roden’s minor league numbers have been good every stop he’s made he just hasn’t been in a great situation to get a legitimate shot.

Him being 26 matters very little in my opinion. He didn’t even get his first minor league AB until he was 22.5 years old.

I understand your point, I am not necessarily down on Roden, and right now there is no one he is blocking.  But I don't believe he should take time from or block Jenkins.   I don't know what to say about his defense, the eye test says he doesn't look bad out there, but nothing stands out to me.  Sometimes players don't always get the opportunities they should and that I think that is the line he is walking right now. I just hope he doesn't get playing time just because he was traded for.

Well Davis Schneider made the most starts in LF last year for Toronto, some of those guys got a chance because Roden didn't take the job and run with it.  His age may not matter but he will soon be in the Wallner and Larnach territory of the last couple of years where you have to show something quickly.  There are people coming up behind him and right now he is not producing enough to hold them off if they show they are ready.

Throwing all righties in the lineup is not always the best move. 
 

FYI- Alex Jackson has 4 PAs in the last 14 days. Why is he even here still? His metrics are awful, if he gets claimed, who cares. If a day comes where they need a catcher, I’m sure they can find a guy with an xSLG of .264.
