I presume the Twins just as easily could have acquired Rogers, but for some reason valued Kremer's extra year of control.

Martin- .165 BA since middle of May

Caratini- .650 ops vs LHP

Kreidler- .573 ops vs LHP

Throwing all righties in the lineup is not always the best move. 
 

FYI- Alex Jackson has 4 PAs in the last 14 days. Why is he even here still? His metrics are awful, if he gets claimed, who cares. If a day comes where they need a catcher, I’m sure they can find a guy with an xSLG of .264.

I agree, this is another case to get Jenkins up here, he has to be able to match any of those numbers.  And I really wish they would keep Lewis at first, he is not comfortable at second and you can see it.

Be careful bringing up Jackson and the need for him, the pitchforks will come out.

In April, Martin had a .947 OPS against lefties.

Since then, .651 OPS. His ability to do damage vs  lefties is the only reason he’s still on a major league roster and he hasn’t done it since April. 
 

He’s hitting leadoff every single game against lefties. What are we doing, Shelton?

This feels like a must-win series with Baltiore right behind the Twins and Detroit heating up. The Central is starting to slip away from the Twins. I will be happy if Kremer can replicate what he did last start out.

No to Wallner. He's almost 29. He isn't a prospect any longer. I'm good with moving on.

Roden still does have potential. Check out his savant page. In a small sample, it's more red on there than even Larnach. I don't know if he will be a star, but he hits the ball generally pretty hard, and certainly he is a better defensive option than Wallner is.

Yeah, but we don't need starters. Barring injuries and trades, we already have Lopez, Ryan, Abel, Bradley, Ober, Kremer, Prielipp, Festa and Matthews as potential starters. I would have liked to see them get him at the trade deadline this year, but I don't think he fits next years plan. Then again, if they get him, I won't be mad at all.

Of those you mentioned, Lopez and Abel are coming back from injuries, and as of now I have no idea what to think of Joe Ryan. I actually do think Lopez will be fine, but depth is a good thing, and frankly you can never have enough pitching.

I also can't imagine Festa getting a chance to start again and being healthy enough for that. He, and to another extent Matthews, are bullpen arms for me next year. I'd love to be wrong.

But yeah, of those you mentioned, Lopez and Kremer should be good to go. Ryan probably. Bradley for sure. Actually Prielipp I would solidly add in there as of now, and I'd also be open to Rojas getting more leash. I don't know if Ober will be back for sure (maybe he is a trade candidate) but then I can easilly see the argument for spending on a durable starter in free agency too.

The only reason I would want Wallner is as a late pinch hitting option, and this may be a low bar but he would have more potential to do damage than anyone else we have been running out there.  And Shelty refuses to use Jackson for anything.

I know you like Roden, but if one of the younger prospects like Emma is ready, I don't really want him blocking anyone.  His savant page may look good but he has yet to be productive in three different stints in the major leagues.  His time is running out to make an impact and show he deserves a spot on the roster.

Oh man, if you could promise me Matt Wallner could emulate late 90's Matt Stairs (moustache and all) that would be awesome.

Until we have 10 MLB caliber SP like the Dodgers, we should always be on the lookout for starting pitching. Also, agreed on Festa and Zebby. It's time to move Zebby and his career 5.63 ERA to the pen, and I wouldn't bank on Festa pitching at all next year. If he does that's icing on the cake.

Agree on Festa, pitchers struggle to come back from this type of injury.  Until we see him on the mound, I don't think you can count on him for any role.

The Kreidler/Caratini love affair continues tonight.  This is what is real frustrating about watching this team, they can be exciting to watch and they don't give but the line ups are totally mind boggling.  Twice they didn't think Kreider was one of the best 26 players for the roster earlier in the season.  What has he done this season to earn consistent playing time.  So at one time he is not even good enough for the roster, but now they are playing him 4 games in a row.  Yes we need him as our backup SS for this year but why keep running him out there, he hasn't earned it.

And you keep moving your hottest hitter in Lewis around just to get Caratini in the lineup.  He is average at best defensively at first and he hasn't hit lefties this year or previously in his career.   At some point your players have to be given a position and the role players find their way in the lineup not the other way around.  They are treating Kreidler and Caratini as core players, what team would do that other than the Twins.

More red than Larnach, but missing some important red.  His sweet spot % is very low and barrel rate is low.  He's getting jammed or hitting it off the end of the bat a lot.

Roden may still have potential, but they've tried this year and it hasn't worked.  It doesn't mean he can't get another shot in 2027 but I'm ready to move on for the next six weeks.  A career OPS+ of 53 doesn't play for a shortstop, much less a corner outfielder.  Be it Jenkins, Wallner, or someone picked up from the waiver wire the Twins just have to get better production from the corner outfield spots.

I'd be ok with it being Jenkins who gets the shot. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I have to think with the level of defense that Wallner provides, I'm ready to move on. If Wallner was capable of CF level defense, I'd think he would be up by now.

I agree with you about Wallner.If the Twins fade in August, call him up one more time. Jenkins simply must be called up this week and I also believe Emma should be considered. I believe that a Boost to St.Paul for Houston should take place. Honestly, I am so tired of these constant position changes. The idea of moving people all over the place to try to position a batter for a lefty or righty pitcher hurts defensively. Bobbled balls are becoming a daily event. Caratina or Jackson should depart....hard to accurately judge Jackson as he never plays. I also feel that something needs to be decided about Buxton. He hasn't not done any baseball activities ... I feel that he is close to becoming a liability for the future...not his fault..  but it is one thing after another.. .
