Western SD Fan Verified Member Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Let's take more leaps of faith than Indiana Jones and suggest that Zoll and the team are self-aware of their predicament about the number of OF in the upper reaches of the organization. They could have a plan for Jenkins for 2027. Jenkins is currently not on the 40-man, which means that he can still report for spring training if there is a lockout. If you think the season is lost or that Jenkins can't help you this season, it could stand to reason to keep him off the 40-man to get the extra work in prior to the season and you activate him for the beginning of next season. That also gives an opportunity for Zoll to work through the backlog of OF's through offseason trades, which are easier to make with the quality of the OF we currently have. Trading Wallner, Roden, Martin, Larnach, etc. are all easier in the offseason than right now as, other than Larnach, none of them will help a contending team this season. This makes sense on the trades, I still think it would help Jenkins with his development for 27 and forward by being up here. I do think they could get an A ball type player for Larnach at the deadline and that would help clear the path. RpR 1

That is the one I think we should see. They moved Lee in preparation for this move. And when you have Ryan Kreidler starting there, then he should be up here. At least with Jenkins, you have guys who are producing that would need to be moved or have their AB's reduced. Kreidler is a good utility guy but he shouldn't be blocking one of your top prospects if he is healthy. Western SD Fan 1

Culpepper is a different story because, as we are seeing, the luster of the Man from Kreidler is starting to wear off. He is still the best option we currently have at SS. But, as you have said, they cleared the spot for him. He just needs to stay healthier longer than Czar Nicholas II's son with hemophilia before we can bring him up. HarmonK03 1

mnfireman Verified Member Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago .272/.376/.492 (.868) across 62 games and .264/.363/.432 (795) across 66 games in a hitter's league are not promotion worthy numbers. The defense might play, but the bat's will be exploited and who knows how that affects a young players psyche.

How does he look, what things to work on. The reports I am seeing from people who have seen Jenkins think he is ready.
