Caratini still probably to the IL for a spell. That is how quick your catching depth can change. We need Jeffers. This could save the trade temptation.

They have to let him sit on the bench for 3 days before the IL stint, so not until Sunday...

It will be interesting to see if Keaschall doesn’t have to go through concussion protocol. Getting beaned that direct is no minor event.

??

That means the team plays 1 man short for 3 days. Why would they “have” to wait?

Team policy....

Never heard that before. It certainly isn’t the MLB rule. They can be placed immediately. There is a maximum 3 day backdating.

Policies. Always exceptions. Made to be modified. Playing a man short for 3 days certainly not ideal when there is 2 other catchers both playing well on the active roster.

It looked like it only hit the bill of his helmet.

See Buxton, Byron (Hip),

No written policy from a search. 10 day minimum IL stay. Buxton was unsure as to whether it would be needed. The choice is whether to play a man sort for the 3 days backdating. Maybe Caratini will be OK tomorrow. I’m betting that they will give him a chance to heal. They have the catching luxury. He could hardly walk well today.

You're killing me, Smalls... The inference was that the Twins are notoriously slow to put players on the IL. seemingly preferring to wait a couple days, thereby shorting the bench, before eventually placing the injured player on the IL....

Nice to win. There were two people suggesting the twins trade Lee last week. I'm still very confused by that.

Seeing how the Twins have another 4 years of control of him, we are probably 2 years away from any real trade talk involving him.

Absolute gold here at the end of the thread where we have a guy ribbing someone for not understanding sarcasm while simultaneously missing the most obvious sarcasm of all time.

The timing of a potential 10 day IL stint for Caratini is actually perfect with the trade deadline and shouldn’t have any effect on a Jeffers trade.

As one of the few “Jeffers QO truthers” here, I take no pleasure in that though.

Varland was not an all star at the time of the trade.  And acquiring made no sense especially after they acquired Outman.

He has had 200 ab's in the major leagues with a batting avg of .191 and OPS of .544, what screams he needs to be playing ahead of players like Keaschall or Jenkins.

I don't understand this fascination with Roden, he will be 27 before next season and Toronto basically came to the conclusion that he was not a major league player.  He has had three different stints in the major leagues and just has not done anything.  Someone in his position needs to produce quickly or he is not going to get another opportunity and that point should be coming soon.

I agree. If you had the luxury to use him strictly as a lefty bench player that might work. Otherwise, I'd send him out on the hustings and wish him well.

Jose Ramirez had similar numbers  in his first 200 ABs. Would you have dumped him as well ?

Actually it is not even close, Ramirez was 21 and had a batting average of .266 and OPS of .646.  You are comparing apples and oranges.

And again read my post, I said he is running out of opportunities due to age and there are many other options coming up behind him, this is just cherry picking what you want.
