Bell playing it conservative was fine. PCA wasn’t THAT far away from catching it.

But then trying to score was the real head scratcher.

He also should’ve tried a little harder to get in a run down so that Lee could get back to 1st base.

💯, should have been between 2nd and 3rd and able to walk in once the ball hit the ground.

When Bell got on I was surprised they didn’t send a runner in then, but I figured well. They’re gonna wait and see if he gets to second, and then he did that and the rest is history.

He’s got to score though once it lands and gets kicked away. They were never going to try and get him at home.

He definitely gets a big slice of blame, but Brooks gets some too.

The worst part is none of their runs mattered, which is why I’m assuming Bell played it super conservatively

If Bell scores Caratini is at 3rd and Lee on second… takes the DP out of the equation which they would happily give up a run for the 2 outs.

pleez ask ,  why is Jackson here ?   if not there ?  then why

To keep from losing him to another team if they release him. It’s not now when they need him. It’s when they probably trade Jeffers.

Pinch running him is not gonna matter

Conservative is fine but he was loafing going into third and only belatedly noticed the coach's signal.

Bell did right by waiting to see if it was caught, but screwed up by jogging to third, I can only assume he didn't think the ball bounced that far away, and screwed up worse by running through the stop sign at third.

Lee did right by hustling out of the box, but screwed up by not keeping an eye on Caratini, and screwed up worse by getting to close to second base.

Everything the team has done right over the last 6-8 weeks came undone in one play...

I give Lee only a little blame.  You rely on your teammates to do right, and the runner scores from second on that play 101 times out of 100, and Caratini takes third - no matter how slow the wheels.  Expect the unexpected, but not from your own guys.

Bell's correct to watch from a short lead to see whether the catch is made, and then when the ball skips away even an inch he goes full speed toward third and picks up the coach to learn whether and how far the ball really got away.  I don't think this is hard.

Let's call it "wanting to do more than the play allowed" or a "hustle mistake" on Lee's part. The play and the runners were in front of him, and Caratini was planted firmly on second base and Bell was in no-man's land. Maybe Lee assumed a run-down and that's why he ventured too close to second.
