Dude, this is at least the third time I've seen you post that the team should trade Buxton. What rock do you live under? He has said many, many times that he doesn't want to be traded and wants to retire a Twin (as recently as at the All-Star HR Derby). You can hate on him and management all you want, but he's not going anywhere. And as long as they are close to at least a WC berth, none of the others are either, the exception being Jeffers, but only if the offer for him is substantial.

You're right, but they did. Bitching about it now ain't going to change that. Hey, we did get some good prospects in return. I have an idea, why don't we trade some of these great prospects we have for good relievers with some controllable years left and reverse what we did last year? A lot people seem to love to hate last year so let's do the opposite this year. There's guys like that out there who are rumored to be available. Let's trade some of our prospects not named Jenkins or Culpepper for guys like Soriano, Detmer, or Sam Bachman of the Angels, Mason Miller, Bradgley Rodriguez, or Jhony Brito of the Padres, Luke Weaver of the Mets,  Daniel Lynch, Lucas Erceg, or Alex Lange of the Royals, Jeff Hoffman of the Blue Jays, Trevor Rogers or Shane Baz of the Orioles, or Hunter Greene or Nick Lodolo of the Reds. I'm sure there are more maybe even better guys that could be had for some of the talent we have in the minors. Let's do it.

So, I get your thinking but there probably needs to be a filter on the potential trade candidates from around MLB.

Mason Miller to the TWINS is not happening w/o the likes of Jenkins. Hunter Greene isn’t going anywhere…….. I live in Cincinnati and Lodollo has a blister issue, on the IL again to try & determine what to do…..he’s “not available”.

There are some guys it makes sense to pursue in your group! ….. I like innings eating Littell from Washington…… he’s starter/reliever & again, can throw innings.

This probably deserves to be said.....if the Twins were in the NL they'd be in 8th place in the WC and tied with the Nationals.  The Nationals.  Clear sellers.

We've got a buffet full of the world's worst foods and we're pretending the lutefisk is tasty because it isn't stinky tofu.  It's still lutefisk.  It's still not good.

Tom Pohlad is going to "try hard" his way into another dumb decision if he listens to the advice in this post.

Twins have some other prospects in top 100. The Padres may shift their plans by August 2 and so might the Twins. If the Padres are trying to reboot, they may listen to Tait, Rodriguez, Hill, Roden, and PTBNL.

The guys I really like are the Angels pitchers Soriano, Detmers, Bachman, and even Yates, Luke Weaver of the Mets, or either Gausman of Toronto or Robbie Ray of the Giants if we want a rental for a lesser prospect. I think we should get who we can on a trade that makes sense, starter or reliever.  if we want to add a starter we can then improve the bullpen by moving Prielipp and Paredes from the rotation to the bullpen. Obviously nothing prevents us from doing both. I also like the idea of picking up Littell.

I have read that Hunter Greene may be available, particularly with the Reds making a strong financial commitment to Chase Burns. You never know about these things though.  "National insiders" tell you lots of  guys are available that the teams have no intention of trading and then later stated they were traded because they couldn't even get a strong enough offer. I think they just have to get some headlines and some eyeballs on the articles. If Greene was available, however, I would certainly consider trading any prospect other than Jenkins for him and would consider trading two or three prospects, including one in the top 10 or even top five, and one in the 10 – 20 range. I know there's injury risk but He's worth it.

Also, the Padres gave up Leo De Vries or Miller, plus some pitching prospects. I wonder if they would have any interest in trading Miller to the Twins for Culpeper and thus get something close to the young shortstop they traded away back in the organization. Before I get a bunch of snarky replies, Mason Miller is in his first year of arbitration and has a $4 million salary. He has three more arbitration years left and isn't a free agent until 2030. That's 3.5 years of one of best closers in the game at an affordable price. Seems like that's worth Culpeper plus, especially since we have Marek Houston coming up behind him. Maybe we do some kind of package deal where they get needed immediate hitting help like Larnach plus Culpeper and maybe a AA guy, and we get Miller plus a lower level yet intriguing prospect. Just something to think about . . .

IMHO another sell-off does make sense—and always did—but especially now with the offense starting to bottom out. I guess we’ll start by ripping the bandaid off:

Ryan — will presumably return something better than Duran (and had better be much better than berrios). Roster spot to Klein ROS (paredes/klein work spot in rotation)

ober — won’t be a great return but hopefully something better than the paddack deal. Roster spot to prielipp

rogers — bag of balls is fine. Roster spot to acton

nance — be nice to at least get back what we gave up but won’t hold my breath. Roster spot to sands

bell — a guy can dream of another Cruz/ryan trade… move bux to dh (roster spot to wallner—see below)

kreidler — a return of something akin to the Castro trade?! Call up Culpepper to get ready for ‘27

Larnach — I personally would like to keep him but understand the logjam in OF and that our “prospects” in the OF likely won’t give us the type of return we need to make a run (assuming Jenkins is untouchable). Crossing fingers for a solid return. Call wallner back up and give him the rest of the season to make or break

Emmanuel Rodriguez + a couple top 30-ish pitchers (Barr and Olivares?) for one of the higher end controllable relievers. We’ll need them next year anyway and this helps clear out some of the OF mess

finally, I really hate to say it but Jeffers :( as we are unlikely to extend him and there already seems to be the makings of a bidding war. Replace with Gonzalez or Mendez

rest of ‘26 looks like:

SP - taj, zebby, Rojas, paredes/klein, prielipp

RP - [acquired reliever], Gomez, morris, funderburk, sands, acton, Adams, raya

DH - bux

1B - lewis

2B - clemens

SS - culpepper

3B - lee

C - caratini/jackson

RF - wallner

CF - keaschall/martin

LF - roden/gonzalez (or Mendez)

looking ahead to ‘27, it could maybe look like:

SP - Pablo, taj, Abel, festa, rojas

RP - [acquired reliever], Gomez, morris, prielipp, sands, zebby, Adams, raya

DH - Clemens

1B - lewis

2B - keaschall

SS - culpepper/houston(?)

3B - lee

C - caratini/jackson

RF - Jenkins

CF - bux/martin

LF - roden/gonzalez (or Mendez)

of course, a lot could happen between now and then but a fun exercise for me anyway! :)
