I am glad he left Ryan in there, right now he is our best pitcher and I will live and die with our best out there every time.

Hasn't Shelton been saying for over a a week that Buxton is close to returning.  I am not sure DH only is considered returning.  It does keep Bell out of the lineup but if he can't play the field, I would rather get a fresh bat up here.  He has not done well in the past DH'ing only.

He hasn't exactly laid an egg while DH'ing these past few games.  18 PA of which 16 were AB (a walk and HBP account for the other two PA), and he has 5 hits to show for it including three doubles and one HR.  A .312 batting average with power speaks for itself, given that small sample size is all we're going to have to go on.

I too bear the scars of watching a diminished Buxton try to tough it out in '23.  My gut would tell me to IL him until he's ready for full-time CF duty.  But each injury is different, and it's his hip this time instead of his knee, I believe, so if that has a different impact on fielding versus hitting I will defer to the on-field decision makers for something like this. 

Him being by far the best hitter on the team this season (easier to say with Jeffers sidelined) adds to incentive to take him at his word if he says he can play even one side of the game.

If Lewis were to return to his former self, which I know everyone has opinions on, those three players are not going to be a obstacle to finding him playing time.  Lee could easily slide back to SS over those three.

My thoughts exactly.   Royce isn't even guaranteed a return trip to TC at any point in time, let alone to a position he's played before. 

KC is certainly a part of the near and long-term future of the team.  Royce, not so much anymore.

 If he returns to his 2023 form, that’s definitely good enough offensive production for 1B. One of Keaschall, Lee, and Lewis is gonna be out of a starting job in the infield if they keep their current positions. We know Lee isn’t an MLB caliber SS so I’m glad that experiment appears to be over. I’m ready for the Culpepper era to begin at SS

It would be a great problem to have three or four players that can play and contribute.  If it gets to that point, Lee can play three positions and can move around and still play three or four days a week,  This would eliminate the need for the likes of players like Gray, Arcia or Kreidler.  You would also strengthen your bench with the player not playing on a given day.

Look at our bench tonight, Kreidler, Arcia, Bell and Jackson, not exactly going to strike a lot of fear in the opposing team.

My daughter and her family are in Chicago right now!  But are they going to attend the Twins game?  No!!!!  Mediocre fans that they are, they will stay another hour or two at O'Hare airport and then board their connecting flight to come see Mrs Ash and me.

Don’t they have any idea that this is the most important game of the season so far? Followed by tomorrow being the most important game of the season, etc etc until we’re eliminated from playoff contention?

I’ll be up later but listening to the radio feed. My dog is now on summer hours where we do our long walk after the heat of the day instead of mid afternoon in the winter. 

Which, by the way, I will miss Glen Perkins on the radio side. He’s fantastic whenever he gets a chance in that role.
