This is who this team as currently constructed is. I don’t want it to be true but the past 162 games don’t leave much room for hope.

From Gleeman:

Twins are 74-88 in their last 162 games.

During that time, spanning one full season, they rank 21st out of 30 teams in both runs scored and runs allowed while being outscored by 56 runs.

The lineup is flawed, the defense is suspect, team speed non-existent, fundamentals lacking, pitching imploding, and FO/manager are clueless.

I'm surprised they managed 74-88.

The Twins were under .500 at the All-Star break in 2023, the last time they made post-season. This year does feel entirely different, but there is time to be relevant if they start playing better. It really has to start now with a long homestand against good teams and the Pirates, who are currently playing their best ball of the season.

After the next four series, it should be pretty evident whether the Twins should buy or sell (I’m betting “sell”). The collective slump of the hitters has been a puzzle. They aren’t great, but they are better than what they’ve produced for the last month. The rotation, featuring only one of their top starters needs to step up. Let’s go! I’m too old to watch this club rebuild.

One positive has been, Correa has raised his average 40 points in the last 12 games.

I agree but man he hits a lot of ground balls.

Yeah, I actually looked into it, and his swing path and launch angles are a bit different from his earlier years for whatever reason.

Anyone else going to the Roswell UFO Festival today?

I'm watching the movie "Independence Day" is that close enough? It's almost the point in the movie where Randy Quaid tells the aliens a little phrase from my generation.

Twilight Zone marathon, between the pit of my fears and the summit of my knowledge.

Off topic: July 3rd, 1978 a local Minnesota man, Kim Cates, reported seeing a UFO hoovering over his grandpas soy bean field. The article was published in the St Cloud Times.  The soy beans were burnt to a crisp in the spot he said he saw the UFO.
