I would guess that the coaches and trainers are evaluating Ober as we speak as to whether we can keep running him out there or shut him down for awhile.  If the decision is to put him on the shelf I would be in favor of a veteran arm to go with the young ones we will put in for the unknown future, depending on the cost, of course.  If nothing else he could share some experience with the younger ones and eat some innings that the pen doesn't need to eat.

I hope we don't come to regret it if we trade for an innings eater veteran , one can cross their fingers that he could help the twins ...

We don't want to get to desperate  , I think we use our younger players and give them experience and if Ober is shut down then it does make sense to get a veteran that can eat innings ...

I think we will see Morris and/or Maccaghen before anyone from outside the organization. I do think that at least one veteran SP is going to be acquired if the Twins decide they want to try to chase a wildcard spot. A rotation of Ryan, Paddack, Festa and SWR is not only not good enough, but it will blow out our bullpen by August probably.

If we are in scramble mode and need a another starter from the minors I think I'd rather see Trent Baker or Aaron Rozek from Burnsville get a chance, at least those 2 have been pitching effectively.

Too bad he signed with the White Sox. Would've liked him on the team.

I don't have any interest in a back of the rotation starter, but to be clear, he's still available.

The only reason a team with a .333 winning percentage trades for a guy like Civale is to try to flip him for a better return at the trade deadline.

If he's still on the White Sox come September, their gamble didn't pay off.

And we’ve got a couple of guys in the Florida Complex League that have been LIGHTS-OUT!

Always hesitant about this rotation with how many innings we could get from Matthews, Festa, Paddack & SWR. When Lopez went down (he was one I was hoping to give us some real innings) and possibly now with Ober, that changes my perspective on the rotation quite a bit, even more so. I've strongly advocated long relief, & now I strongly suggest getting another SP. Alcantra can be a bargain while he's still finding himself. Gallen would be a rental, but still could be too expensive. I could dream on Eovaldi. At the very least pick up Kyle Gibson on a MiLB deal. He had a disappointing spring because he had no time to prepare w/o spring training. He's always been an inning-eater and would fit in great in the clubhouse, who would raise the spirits there.

The FLC is a large step away from the majors. Producing at that low of a level would be hard to translate against better players.

Yes. Basically the same could be said for over-age journeymen pitching at AA. I Should have used the sarcasm font. 😉

Civale seems to have seen better days. Ober looked like he was favoring his shoulder on one dugout shot from yesterday's game. He certainly isn't right at this time and it may be more than just a pitching slump. I've never been high on Woods-Richardson but hopefully he can give us 3-4 fair starts going forward. Festa can be good and is moving in the right direction. The minor leaguers are slumping right now. But we give up on Alcala and take on Wentz? Doesn't make any sense to me. Then we sign a weak infielder? Huh? I gotta look at the lower teams to see who could be pried away and is signed for more than this year.

Sarcasm noted and accepted. I just don't see any pitchers, including Dobnak that can help right now.

I hope ownership doesn't take a gas can to this season... There are guys who are having a  good year thus far and some that probably will play better towards the end of the season. I know a team looks better for selling if it is having a decent season. No reason to act like the owner from the movie Major League.

Shoot, at this point Aaron Paul would be an improvement.  At least he's got good Breaking stuff...imageofjesse.jpg.5136bb9fa88e19b28ab70c223b27b91e.jpg
