So what does one do first…. take a swallow of Scotch that tastes like sucking on a charcoal briquette to offset the bite of lutefisk that tastes like roadkill skunk after soaked in poison or vice versa?

3 shots scotch

Not sure that is even enough….. however I sure do like butter!!!

so if I drain the butter off the lutefisk through my dirty sweat socks onto my freshly popped popcorn it will taste just fine!

and again I mean no offense against my Norsk cousins

There was so much quality fast pitch softball back in the 60’s and 70’s around the midwest!
I have kind of lost track about it now….. is it still around?

I played in fastpitch leagues in the 1980s-1990s in the Hudson Valley.  Having enough pitchers for a league was always a problem.  It's a great game -- nothing like beer league softball!

Absolutely! When you had a serious fast pitch softball pitcher you could rule!!

The Elkhart/Mishawaka area nearby was one of those hotbeds for Class A and above as recent as when I was a sportswriter in the '90s. Some of the area RV manufacturers were big sponsors. It's tailed off and a friend just said there's nothing here, but thinks there might be some C league teams about 90 minutes away in Michigan. Perhaps some D league teams in Indianapolis.

What? I scrolled through seven pages of comments and no one has made an obligatory comment like, "Was your clue that he wouldn't buy anything that wasn't in the day-old bread section"?

I guess I'll have to do it.

Was your clue that it was Falvey that he wouldn't buy anything that wasn't in the day-old bread section?

Do you think he’s buying green bananas again, after this winning streak?

Love hearing about this kind of quality softball when it was so good! Thanks Indiana! Sponsors were always so important!

It was huge in my area too. Tons of leagues. It all died out around the turn of the century for some reason
