Appears as though Paddack just doesn't have it tonight.  Already a lot of bullets off of Oakland bats.

We may see Varland a lot sooner than we hoped or expected.  Hopefully, fairly soon.

For what it's worth, at least we should have most of our bullpen available for this game.  We'll probably need most, if not all, of them.

E4. 2nd baseman made the hard part of the play by coming up with it. The error was the transition.  Generous scoring. If that ball is hit to a Twins defender it's an automatic hit so it doesn't reflect poorly on the defensive stats. Simple as that. That's why I don't put a lot of stock in defensive metrics.

Varland should be able to go 80 pitches or more (if effective). That should get them to the late innings. Hopefully, that gets them to Jax. I don’t have a lot of confidence in Thielbar, Okert and Jackson.

The home runs are wonderful, but the 10-pitch walks, wearing out the pitcher, are also really impressive.  Lewis is the real deal.

He's batting .400 for godsakes. 

I gotta be honest, right now he looks like the best player in baseball. I don't think that's a stretch.

It's a stretch. He's doing great. He's played 12 games I think. Part of being the best player is doing it every single day.
