Arraez has now had 140 consecutive PAs without a strikeout. Longest stretch in 20 years.

It's looking like he will win another batting title this year too. What is that .... 3 seasons in a row with 3 different teams?!

Good for him!

Matt Bowman sipped a cappuccino this Spring with the Twins.

Have the Tiger/Orioles game on. Bowman pitche'd one inn in relief. His 4th MLB team this year as well as 3 MiLB teams.

I imagine his head is spinning more than his curve ball with 7 different pitching coaches.

Hinch calls upon Maeda to start rather than BP. Saving arms for post-season.

Maeda getting rocked, 5-0 WSox, 66 pitches thru top of 3rd. Brrrrr

Surprised Tigers DFA'd Urshela. Seemed like he was still a really effective defender with a good arm.

And gets to play 3rd and SS for Atlanta today.

Top of 9th, lack of range on his part and baserunner becomes tie runner before Lindor smokes one to CF.

mlbtraderumors.com has an interesting look at Luis Arraez, who is said to be seeking an extension. Arraez is a fascinating player with three batting championships and elite ability to make contact coupled with low power numbers and limited defensive value.

The projected arbitration salary of $14.6M seems really high given his BRef 1.1 WAR.

Cards declined options on Gibby as well as Lynn.

I saw that today, and was only mildly surprised. But what DID surprise me when I read the news was their age. They are both 37 years old. Before I read the article on ESPN I would have guessed that Gibson was a few years younger than that, and Lynn was older.  Or maybe it just seems like Lynn has been around forever.

I was thinking about free agent pitchers today, when one name popped into my head for some reason: Jose De Leon. If you recall, he very briefly pitched for the Twins in 2023 before he was injured and had to have TJ surgery. At the end of that season he elected to become a free agent but to my knowledge he didn't pitch anywhere last season due to the time needed to recuperate from the surgery. He wasn't lights-out during his short time with the Twins but he wasn't awful either. He's now 32 years old, so I'm not sure how effective he can be, especially after a long layoff, but he was always an intriguing pitcher (back when he was a young prospect with the Dodgers organization and a topic of trade interest by the Twins). Of course that was many years ago. but still .... might he warrant an invite to spring training or some sort of minor league deal?

Good news for former Twin, and a favorite of mine, Rob Refsnyder, who had his option picked up by the Red Sox. Solid, versatile player.

I liked Refsnyder too. Like you said, he's a good versatile player. He had a very good year in Boston last season so that's cool that they are bringing him back. He's bounced around too much (too many teams) during his career so I'm sure a bit of stability will be welcome for him.

One bad fortune he had was, when he was with the Twins, he joined the club of gents that year, bouncing off the Center Field wall onto the IL.

Good memory. I had forgotten about that ill-timed injury.

Bud just alerted me to the signing. Not bad money.

Loved Farm, but lateral speed has diminished and the bat was in the toilet. The $3.5MM is more than I would have gone.

Right, particularly when compared to Willi Castro's salary.

Caleb Boushley signed a minor league deal with the Rangers.

Earlier this week JT Chargois was DFA'd by Seattle despite pretty decent numbers.

I'm surprised too. Chargois DID put up good numbers this past season, at least to my old school eyes.

Sigh, we missed out on getting Jake Cave as he signed for $1 million in the KBO.

Ol' Jake continues to build on the stories he can spin for his grandchildren some day and continues to make $900K more than I ever made in one year.

Swat on, Jake.
