DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Keep trying to figure out why the Vikes haven't signed Gilmore at CB yet. I know he's long in the tooth, but I keep reading how well he graded out on 2023. Surely he must have on good year left in him? Or is he just holding out for a bigger $ deal than he's been offered so far?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 The TE they signed to back fill Hockenson just got carted off.....
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Addison formally charged with DUI. Gonna get at least a three game suspension..

Not that I’d want it as I’m a Vikings fan, but it should be more. Half season probably. Passed out at the wheel isn’t even in the same hemisphere of irresponsibility as blowing say an .085. Which is still unacceptable. Cap'n Piranha 1

Half season probably. Passed out at the wheel isn’t even in the same hemisphere of irresponsibility as blowing say an .085. Which is still unacceptable. Especially since this is his second driving-related issue in barely a calendar year. Supposedly KOC told him after last year's speeding issue that he needed to change, and while it sound like Addison did, it unfortunately was for the worse. If the Vikings are serious about valuing moral behavior from their players, they need to match whatever the NFL hands down, and probably get Addison some off-the-field help as well.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 According to Dot Com Tom, the Vikings have traded Andrew Booth Jr to the Cowboys for Nahshon Wright, who is also a CB, in the 4th and final year of his rookie deal (he was drafted in 2021, in the third round). Leaving aside the bizarre nature of a position for position swap, how bad must Booth have been that the Vikings wanted to bring in a player unfamiliar with their defense, who will become a FA after the year. It cannot be stressed enough how horrific Kwesi's 2022 draft was. nicksaviking and DocBauer 2

Original_JB Verified Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 McCarthy with torn meniscus ... Heading for surgery.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Of course he is. Bad news, but honestly it probably doesn't change much. They were likely going to use kid gloves with him anyway. Surgery sounds scary, but this one typically isn't that bad. Unless it's a bad tear, he'll probably be back early into the season.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 At this point we’re just cursed. I don’t know what the state of Minnesota did to deserve so many sports injuries, but it should be looked in to.

Let’s hope it’s the minor surgery that only takes 4-6 weeks to recover vs. the full repair which will take him out for the season. We won’t know until he goes under the knife. gunnarthor 1

So maybe he’s back late in the regular season but I would guess we are going to be very conservative with his rehab either way. If it’s the minor 4-6 week surgery he could still play after the bye week.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 No chance are they rushing his recovery. I for one am very much looking forward to seeing Nick Mullens back out there throwing for 400 yards with 3 touchdowns and 3 turnovers. I guess this is better than having it happen in season. I guess? Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Ugh. I was hoping to see JJ get some starts in the second half of the season but I’m doubtful on that now. Some recent Vikings torn meniscus examples who got the full repair are Adrian Peterson, who came back Week 15 IIRC and Irv Smith Jr who missed the whole 2021 season. JJ likely doesn’t get rushed back.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Whelp. This sucks. My interest level in this team took a hit. I really didn’t want to watch a full season of Darnold and Mullens. Mike Sixel 1
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Oy vey can we get kirko back? FFS this is the second time in like 8 years we’ve lost a quarterback before the season even started.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 Great. It really wasn't going to bother me if Darnold started most of the year, but now McCarthy won't get any reps and everyone will be putting up question marks about him next year. Vanimal46 1
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I feel actually sick to my stomach. I knew the team was unlikely to win anything this season but come on. Why does this stuff have to happen? Finally draft a qb and he’s hurt after one damn game? **** it. I won’t rest until it’s Nick Mullens szn again.

My ideal scenario was having Darnold be the sacrificial lamb the first 6-7 games, then McCarthy starting the 2nd half when the schedule eases up. Now we have no hope to turn to when Darnold stinks. Mullens is worse. Mike Sixel 1

Darnold has a better winning percentage, but Mullens is better in most statistical categories. Good god it’s going to be a qb controversy between Sam Darnold and nick mullens 😂 Vanimal46 1
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Lost year. Completely lost year. They almost have to extend Darnold......
