Not yet but then neither was Lopez in Miami.

Lopez was a high 3 low 2 with good to great stuff. Always considered a potential ace if he could stay healthy.

I guess I just considered him a #3 but I see your point.  Miami still seems to be stacked with SPs. I just hope that whoever we actually get to fill Grays spot is successful and here for years.

California angels need pitching ....

In the 2022 draft , they drafted all pitchers , 1 through 20 picks or 21 picks ...

No way they are trading a stable pitcher unless  they get a Cole or Verlander in trade ...

Maeda sounds like he is getting priced out of our comfort zone , gray is also out of the zone too  ....

We need quality pitching  , every team needs quality pitching  ...

It's difficult for all teams to find quality  pitching  , even the Yankees haven't had a devastating starting staff for awhile  ...

The twins had a healthy starting staff in 2023 that was quality  and kept us in alot of game's and won playoff games ...

Hopefully the FO can do it right and make a decent trade for a quality starter because they need to get it right if we are going to contend   ...

I'm just going to sit back and relax  and hopefully twins Territory  will have a nice Christmas present  ,,,

They have to create interest before twinsfest ....

Wallner being the hometown kid with huge potential isn't going to get traded early in his career.

Yeah, I think Wallner and Varland have intangible value to the Twins as hometown kids. Fan-favorites who sell jerseys, especially if they really pop off.

He would be a good trade candidate. But why would the Angels trade him with I think 3 years of team control? They are also not swimming in starting pitching either.

If Kepler could be somehow used in a deal it could be a good deal.

Plus, if anyone on the roster is willing to give the team a hometown discount on a contract it's Matt Wallner.

Nice column and the trade you listed of Sandoval 29.4 BBTV 27 years old, for Wallner 22.9 and Festa 8.7 would be a slight overpay for the Twins but fair.  I don't think I would do it though.  I'd have different targets with teams the Twins would match up better with.  For example:  Bryce Miller of Seattle is 25 years old and a 25.8 value.  Seattle's Bryan Woo is 23 years old and valued at 24.6.  Both are cheaper and younger and arguably have higher upside.

I would rather build a trade around Polanco or Kepler than Wallner.  In fact, either Polanco or Kepler straight up could bring back Edward Cabrera from the Marlins.  That would move $10 million in salary and add a young, controllable pitcher.

I don't see the Angels contending for anything other than the basement of the A.L. West.  Ohtani is moving on.  Trout will probably be traded for prospects.  Two of our best trade chips are vets (Kepler, Polanco) who a rebuilding Angels organization wouldn't be interested in.  Sandoval could certainly be traded, but to a team ready to give up prospects, not vets like Kepler and Polanco (and maybe Farmer and Vasquez) like the Twins are likely to do.

As several others have said, I can't see why a pitching-starved team like the Angels would trade one of their best pitchers, especially going into a season where they just hired a new manager (the ever-so-cool Ron Washington!) and are looking to compete, even without (most likely) Otani on the team. Nice idea, but I just don't see Sandoval being traded.
