I believe it's linked to the final sentence in the article:

Ng is expected to be linked to the front office opening with the Boston Red Sox, who fired chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom last month.

GM -> CBO.

The Athletic reports Ng's disagreement on baseball operations realignment: “In our discussions, it became apparent that we were not completely aligned on what that should look like and I felt it best to step away,” Ng said.

She should trade Arraez over to Boston really quick 🤣

And, if there's still time, sign Dylan Floro and then trade him to Detroit for Austin Meadows.

She turned down the extension was not offered an extension and instead the Marlins picked up their end of a mutual option and walked away because she was being demoted and the owner would not let her make changes in the ops department.. I don't blame her. This is typical Marlins bs. One step forward, six steps backwards.

All the reports indicate they were basically demoting her, and that they wouldn't let her fire some old skewl guys.... So no real surprise she moved on. Not extending her after she fixed the team is insulting, let alone the rest

Correct. Jeff Passan tweeted yesterday the owner’s plan was to hire someone above her - after she just built the first team to make the playoffs in a full season since 2003. Anyone in her position would tell the organization to F themselves on the way out of the door.

She will be off to way better opportunities soon.

It's one thing to add a president position, I can see that business justification.  It's a whole other thing not to offer that position to the current successful leader of the organization.  At these levels its almost always a prelude to a parting of ways, and its very possible that it was on purpose to force her out on "her choice".  Pretty standard business move unfortunately, no severance package needed.

Yeah, the more things change down in Miami, the more they stay the same.
