It’s infuriating to watch this massive fail of hitting philosophy. And to think people are getting paid to advocate for it.

Plouffe called it out at least.  He said that's a pitch you have to put a swing on.  That one is on Gallo.  Swing hard, just in case.

I really thought the team would make SOME change over the AS break.

Something. Fire the hitting coach. Get one of Kepler or Gallo out of the lineup. Something.

 Nope.

Bremer for the umpteenth time explaining the box we see is not the same box for whomever to evaluate.  I have one simpple question, Why Not?  We can send a man to the moon, but we can't determine how to configure a box to track balls and strikes?

Why not? Because broadcast corporations don’t feel like making it more accurate.

That pitch to Gallo wasn't the worst thing... now he's been ejected, Jeffers is the only guy left on the bench unless Miranda is good to go.

I’m sure everyone’s blood pressure was up a notch after the pitch to Correa. Gallo takes the fall…better him than Correa.

As I said in a different  thread...Trevor Plouffe hitting coach.

They did get Gallo out of the starting lineup...

This is the same recipe we've seen the past two (losing) seasons. Keeping the status quo is the FO's highest priority.

To no one's surprise.  It's like the front office doesn't care or has their blinders on so tight that they're incapable of seeing anything.

Very frustrating.

A strike should be a strike.  It should not be an evaluation.  Either it falls within certain parameters or it doesn't.

Only due to a lefty starting pitcher.

FYI, Gallo wasn't the one ejected.  I think Popkins was.

Gameday initially said it was Gallo, but now it says Rudy Hernandez was. I'm just following on gameday, so I retract what I said about Gallo.

When evaluating umps MLB gives a "buffer zone" around the edges. Pitches in this area are not considered "missed calls."

For the record, I don't think either actually depict whether or not a pitched baseball crosses through the three dimensional strike zone

Gallo doesn't start the game  but comes in as a pinch hitter and possibly gets tossed ...

If he did get ejected that is a cause for dfa'ing  , not helping him or the twins ...

"buffer" reminds me of the senate hearings in the Godfather movies, when the button man always deals with a buffer rather than directly with Corleone.

So its akin to nuclear weapons...close gets the job done.

There was no status quo last season. Everyone was injured.

We have a lot of injuries this year too, it just feels like the whole 'they need to shake things up' ideas were brought up but we kept seeing the same thing every week, Rocco kept using Pagan in short leverage situations, the starters didn't get much rope (not my complain but it felt like most here thought that). They did make changes at the trade deadline, so that's the earliest I expect any changes to be made.

There were waaayyyyyyyyy more injuries last year and less talent to start with, particularly on the pitching side. In the second half of last year, there were no options left, much less good options. That’s what makes this season so damned infuriating. They have options. LOTS of options. And they do absolutely ****ing nothing, day after day.

I think Rocco could be doing a better job but this front office has its head you-know-where and deserves every bit of bad ink it’s getting. Rocco didn’t sign both Gallo and Kepler and Rocco isn’t the guy who has them on the roster in mid-July.
