Wishing Trevor a speedy recovery, but great to see the guy get a chance. I would have loved to watch him hear the big news

Any idea on what to expect from him? His numbers are great in AAA, but I've seen tempered expectations on him. Is there any reason to think he could be the Chris Parmelee we all hoped we had last year after he tore up AAA?

The odds have been against Chris since before he signed a minor league contract with the Twins last year. I have no idea how he will do, but he deserves the chance as much as anybody right now and I can't wait to see what he does with it.

Colabello will DH some, fill in for Morneau at first for a Morneau day off or a Morneau day at DH. He will also pinch hit. Escobar and Carroll are likely in the lineup now and that is good. He is not someone who needs to play every day. Having him on the roster could be highly beneficial. Replacing some pop with some pop is good, in general.

Lefty Paul Maholm is starting for the Braves, so I would not at all be surprised to see him make a start at 1B if he can get there in time tomorrow. If not, he'll be ready to pinch hit. He could be thrown into RF rather than left-handed bats Parmelee or Arcia. I would expect Escobar and Carroll to play 3B most of the time. Colabello can DH some in the AL games.

could Plouffe go on the new concussion DL?? unlike MN to make a decision so soon

It's possible he goes on the 7-Day DL. The timing of Colabello finding out tells me that it is Plouffe related, though it could be a situation where they were going to send Parmelee or Arcia down.

How long is Hicks' leash? He's hitting .172 in May.

He's hit 5 home runs across two days. Those two days seem to have bought him a lot of leeway....especially for a rookie with no time at AAA.

Congrats to Colabello--great story!

These are the kinds of stories that make enduring the last few years of Twins baseball worthwhile. Looking forward to seeing Colabello the bigs. And to the re-appearance of Sam Deduno.

Can he even get there by the 11AM game time ?

Since Atlanta is Delta's main hub, there is actually a direct flight from Allentown, PA (where the Wings played last night) to ATL. It left at 6:15 this morning, and will arrive at 8:19. Given that Seth broke this at 1 AM Eastern, I'm assuming Colabello would have plenty of time to make it to the airport for that flight.

I imagine him or Doumit get a lot of time on RF with Arcia being most in trouble.

No doubt... Atlanta is pretty easy to fly to.

I hope he is in the lineup today. With a portsider on the mound it would seem to fit. I hope he can provide a little inspiration.

Dozier... but it all depends on Plouffe's health. I think that Dozier is in deeper doghouse than Parmelee now.

Could it be Ramirez that's destined for Rochester?

On a side note, I hope Plouffe is OK and not headed to the DL. I also hope Gardy comes to his senses and puts Dozier back in the lineup, although if Plouffe is injured, that situation might take care of itself.

First of all, your "Bobby Tewksbary" link is broken.

Secondly, Bob Tewksbury, hitting instructor? :)

Love that people are breaking down his possible flight info here.

Thanks for the news, Seth. And congrats to Colabello!

It's that dang auto-filter! It thinks Tewks_hitting is Tewk-naughty poop-ing.

Per Phil Miller, Plouffe to 7-day concussion DL, Mastro to 60-day DL.

No big surprises there.

And welcome, Mr. Colabello!

While he hasn't played it for the Twins, Colabello did put it in a fair amount of time at the Hot Corner from 2009-2011. Not sure of they'd consider him an emergency option there.

It honestly would be pretty boneheaded for the twins to make any 25 man move other than Plouffe to the 7 day list. Between a knee to the head and a 97mph heater to the back/shoulder, he almost certainly feels awful today and could use a few days off, concussion or no. Give the Italian Stallion a week, and if Plouffe is ready to come back, then you can make a decision about who needs a refresher course at AAA.

The one thing I can guarantee though is that they won't send Dozier down today. That would leave them with Florimon, Carroll, and Escobar playing every inning of every game, with NO MI backup.

Ha, yeah, normally it takes the Twins at least 7 days to make these decisions.

Can't wait for Colabello. You never know, perhaps they found the next Michael Morse.

I can't wait either. That's exactly the fun of it.... you never know!

I think it's time for Hicks/Arcia to head to AAA. And/or Parmelee. Not much that can be called up to help. Colabello is a start. Give him a lot of at bats.
