  1. Revere broke his ankle yesterday so he's out a while. Span has been moved down to 7th in batting order today
  2. I 100% believe this as its not in Terry Ryan's DNA to spend money on people he deems unworthy. Problem is that other organizations have deemed our players worthy thru years that Ryan/MN front office were too cheap on.
  3. Why ever compare players then??? How few are gonna have exact ages/experience
  4. think Logan Darnell has a better shot than Albers, whom Ive heard Reusse say the Twins dont think too highly of. Ive been a big fan of Hendriks and want him to get another shot.
  5. With only 62 innings pitched, there is no reason to put a 25 yr old (in NOV) on the 40 man. Nobody is gonna take him & have him pitch all of next yr......think of all the better prospects that get thru Rule V. It may be different if he was a first round 22 yr old, but he's not. Hopefully he'll be on the same timetable of rehabbing as Gibby's first game last summer was July 10
  6. With DeVries having elbow troubles all year & the way he's pitched.....I hope its not the dreaded misdiagnosed TJ injury. Hernandez is/should be tried as more of a lefty reliever....esp long reliever as thats his only MLB shot. I would actually hope that Trevor May would get some AAA starts this year as well
  7. Ryan is combing the minors for the next Eduardo Escobar & Pedro Hernandez. How the times have changed.
  8. The end of Gardy is near which means the end of Rick Anderson is also. How much of their success leaving MN has to do w/'change of scenery', which I attribute to leaving Andy's reign. Marquis complained openly about Anderson trying to change his game speed/mound plan to comply with the 'Twins Way' but since leaving MN 34 starts 15W 11L 3.89ERA 206 IP 197h 155K 93bb 32hr I, for one, can see that pitching in the NL & Petco Park can help a pitcher but Marquis is much better on the road (3.79 ERA) than home (3.97ERA) with the Padres. I hated the Marquis signing like most, but these numbers show there was something their that MN couldnt get out of him. Most of us also were completely fed up with Frankie & had NO problem getting rid of him for absolutely nothing. His ChiSox numbers were no different but this year with a new pitching coach/attitude 12st 9W 3L 2.00ERA 76.2 IP 63h 80k 28bb 3hr Frankie's main change is now bringing his hands aboce his head (for better balance)....something the Twins DO NOT want their pitchers to do (philosiphy) as Ive heard it discussed in interviews. I want a managerial change (I do think Gardy is an above average mgr who'll get a shot as soon as he wants it) more to just change our pitching coach & team philosiphy of pitching (maybe someone who can handle a 12 man staff??).
  9. Is there any other reason than its his first full season away from Rick Anderson
  10. Would like to get a longer everyday look.....not like this team has too many right handed hitters
  11. He'll move to SS soon.....wonder if JJ Hardy is available!!
  12. Bill Smith didn't get to stick around to see his prospects flourish so why should Terry Ryan? Don't root for Twins to lose...tho I caught myself doing it this yr.....but rather for specific players that don't belong to fail
  13. Under no circumstances would I think that Terry Ryan would even take a sniff of Hughes, who I really like.
  14. Started year 2-48 in first 13gms Since 49gms 42-167 (.251) 9doubles 3triples 7hr (.425slgg)18rbi 26runs 12bb 45K 5/6sb Since May 22 24gms 26-85 (.306) 6doubles 2triples 4hr (.565slgg)6rbi 4bb 25k 2/3sb
  15. Twins currently have the 5th worst record in MLB & on pace for 93 losses......that should answer the question. Good managers get fired every year (world series winners Charly Manuel & Mike Scoscia later this year) & its not a knock on managerial skills but something that has to be done.
  16. I'm not turned off by Sano as 2 current all stars struggled in their time @ AA also....Bryce Harper & Manny Machado....at the same age but used their time to learn.
  17. I'm a huge believer in him but he just haant had the time in as well as closing any games that matter
  18. Today on ESPN 1500, Jeff Dubay has been arguing that the Twins closer is top 5 & is astonished he was only added to all star game as an injury replacement to Jessie Crain. He is very solid but without a full yr as a closer & finishing for one of MLB worst teams doesn't do it for me. Where do you rank him?? I have Rivera Kimbrell Chapman Nathan Soriano Papelbon Balfour Promo Ahead of Glen but arguable Grill I Frieri Johnson Rodney
  19. To contradict myself, I think 28 starts is enough to judge Anthony Swarzak but 22 starts from Liam Hendriks isnt. Some of that comes from minor league numbers & some is the age difference of 3 yrs but Id rather have either starting than wasting time on Kevin Corriea or Mike Pelfrey
  20. I 100% disagree with ya. Anthony has had 28 starts with a 5.79ERA w/ .835OPS and has only pitched 146 innings in those. However, he's found a nice niche as a middle guy w/3.92ERA & .722OPS. Im all for finding a role for someone that can/has had success in. Problem gets to be w/Anthony is that Roenicke & Pressley are almost the same type of pitcher & I dont think we need 3 longmen/mopup types. Id like a little more diversity in pen & especially some harder throwers (hopefully Michael Tonkin this yr).
  21. missed Polanco/Keplar and would BUT what team is gonna Rule V them & keep a low A kid for a whole year when most dont even do it for older more established guys. Sano & Rosario. Dont get a feeling that MN will bring em up in Sept regardless of play as they want to save those 40 man spots (rather than thinking they arent ready). I am a big believer in Hendriks.....dont get me wrong & I hope he gets another shot. I believe the organization is not sold on him (Tom Kelly has confirmed this) & wont 'waste' a spot on him if he doesnt establish himself later this year
  22. Agree.....I believe Aaron is gonna get some RF experience before next July
  23. 11 for last 26 over 8gms raising his average 27 points to .261 & his slugging 43 points to .400 Baby steps, but you gotta start somewhere. Needs a big 2nd half to get back into prospect standings.
  24. Unless Im missing someone, I dont see their being 'that' difficult of decisions for 40 man. Darnell & Albers are easy adds. I would guess Deibinson Romero maybe. James Beresford, I wouldnt. Those are the only AAA guys. Maybe Angel Morales in AA (needs to pick it up), or you may lose him as a FA. Pitching wise, Id do Matt Hauser but dont think Alex Wimmers is worth it yet. High A.....Kennys Vargas for sure.....Salcedo/Nate Roberts no. Maybe 5.....w/DeVries, Hermsen, Butera, Hendriks (IMO), Pelfrey, Carroll (??), WRamirez....plenty of guys to lose.
  25. 100% w/ya on Nick, but I would bet he does get another shot. Albers/Darnell will both get 40 manned as their isnt a shortage of spots they can take.....nice to see what they have when they are ready (Albers now, Darnell--Sept??) Worley to me is like Diamond. They are both considered part of future BUT they've had just as many stretches of inept pitching as MLB quality.
