  1. on my Mauer 1B arguement....this is goin on Mauer's career year this season. His career averages show he would be a below average offensive 1B for run production
  2. Liam Hendriks is bein activated for tonight game & will start. Any guesses on what the corresponding transaction will be?? Release Blake Martin or Shairon Martis OR will they fake another injury (ala Danny Lehman)??
  3. per a tweet from the Twins:)
  4. Part of May that bothers me is MN is wasting an option year on him this year with really no shot of calling him up. He's still 2 deep (behing Gibson & supposedly Albers) with no real impression that they would even call him up to AAA. I understand that if he has another 2-3 good ones in AA, he could go up but AAA is gonna start activating guys like Hendriks, Blackburn etc soon further blocking a guy like May or even Darnell. Im hoping May gets an Aug/Sept recall & gets his feet wet for 5-10 starts to get ready for next spring.
  5. Twins are in a bad shape financially. Ryan tried to be coy in cutting payroll as he knew they werent trying to be competitive (this season is absolutely been best case) but dealing the 21m of Willy/Justin & getting nothing back (which they wont) cannot be hid. Ryan isnt gonna spend a cent in the offseason & they will have a 50-55m payroll next yr (if they use their propsects, few have a problem w/that tho). Its using bargain basement players like Florimon, Walters, Deduno, Thomas that will get people upset. This is why I could see them keeping both & letting Justin walk as they wont get anything but they wont be seen as cutting payroll.
  6. why not both.....Diamond is proving many correct that he was a one year wonder & has regressed to his 2011 AAA numbers & Mike Pelfrey can leave anytime & whomever is the replacement is a step up.
  7. My arguement will always be that moving Mauer to 1B or DH completely nullifies his hitting for his position. As a first baseman, he is VASTLY underproductive. Not even in a group with a Lyle Overbay type, much less a Mark Grace type. 1B is NOT a position for a high batting average with moderate power.....EVER. Mauer only becomes an above average player @ C.
  8. Any talk in any thread about Mauer, I absolutely discount his 2009 season as a fluke & that continues in this one. His low RBI total isnt consuming my arguement as a player cannot control that stat (as important as it is ). His RISP line of .300/.462/.350 in only 40ABs vs his career .341/.460/.493 is down & disappointing a bit. His ISO is however a full season career best (of course discount 09) .165 and his 40runs, 37walks, 21 doubles, 7HR & 28 XBH are all on pace for career highs also(all but HRs true career bests). Some are harping on his K total of 55 (already 4th highest of his 9 yrs), but that also doesnt bother me if the tradeoff is added power.
  9. Twins found that after a Silver Slugger year, Josh doesnt have trade value so what is he gonna have in a normal year?? When we signed him, I envisioned a .250 22/23hr 80rbi guy w/65/70bb. That's what he is now for the most part. Just get him out of the field even if it means keeping Doumit on the bench. Gardy is terrified of actually DHing terrible fielding OFs for some reason. He has no clue about OF defense helping this crappy pitching staff.
  10. Trading Justin ASAP for whatever they get is what they need to do & get Parmelee another 350ABs & make a decision on him. Id MUCH rather role with a Parmelee/Colabello platoon @ 1B & look to the future. Justin has been a great Twin but is not in the plans for future as they dont know Sano's position. Quit playing 29 yr old washouts (Thomas, Deduno, Walters, etc) as a few nice games doesnt make you part of future. However, with gardy's situation...he doesnt have time to rebuild. Bullpen wise...Swarzak, Pressley, Roenicke & Fien have all done fine BUT they are all the same pitcher & we could use a far more varied pen. Not now, but in a few weeks, Id love to see a hard thrower up here who isnt a middle man...namely Michael Tonkin. Look to the future PLEASE
  11. exactly.....PA is a joke on baseball & his 'sources' are his best friend LaVelle. Disregard anything he says
  12. Twins will keep Gibson down & whenever that 'bad' start happens they will go, "see, he's not ready for the majors yet". Been their M.O. for years for players they dont want to call up.
  13. Antoan Richardson is gonna be the everyday "Anthony Slama" of ROC......no matter the numbers he puts up, TR is gonna decide he's not a major leaguer I have so little respect for Ryan right now that is he skips Gibson for Albers, Im done with him.
  14. Ryan had his favs & they get their shots while I more talented players who aren't Terrys favs are shipped out for various reasons
  15. thats not an official scorers decision but an umpiring one
  16. .277 BAve since his demotion back to AA w/2hr 12rbi in 19gms (65ab's)
  17. with good depth in the system (which necessitated takin 3 Cs in first 1orounds:confused:),this would be a great time to let Hermann get some 3B time instead of relearning it in the majors as well as givin Pinto time @ 1B (any secondary position)......MN has had several guys do position learning in the big leagues the past few yrs & never understood why they dont get that experience in the minors
  18. They said on the radio that Hermann was taking grounders everyday @ 3B the past week in case of a problem. Would love for him to get a little bit of time there to see if he could handle it athletically. He was a collegiate 3B. Every bit of versatility he can add to his bag, the better his MLB value.
  19. Would absolutely LOVE to see Clete go down for a few days (not enough to DL but 2-3 days) & see what they would do & how chaotic it would become in the OF. Bet you now see Parm back in OF with Doumit on bench to protect the C spot. Cannot take Arcia out of lineup as he's the only potent bat. Very poorly constructed team (40 man roster also)
  20. Problem is there is no actual organizational thought process goin on. Its throw it against the wall & see if it sticks. Lot of the problem has to do with gardy & no contract. Is he in it to see the future, so keep playing the prospects.....or does he need to avoid another 90 loss season to keep his job, hence playing the vets to win.
  21. back on pace for 89 losses & they've played WAY over their heads!!!
  22. Agree now its Hermann......Twins have a M.O. of not playing a guy they are sending down the couple days before.
  23. Kevin Slowey has been saying how great an organization the Marlins are also!!!
  24. Sideline reporter Jaime just said that the Twins told Arcia to work on his defense when he was sent back to AAA, then proceeded to DH every single game after his re-debut there (know he hurt his shoulder also). Either 'Kevin Gorg type reporting' or MN was making something up to hide the fact they wanted a 7th yr of control on him.
