Reptevia Verified Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 I’d give them Kepler, Pagán and Arraez.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 No surprise, the Yankees are interested in Reynolds.

Larnach or Walner, with Gilberto and one of Winder, Sands or Varland. I would think that would get it done. All very controllable with some quality upside. Celestino winder and sands have little value in a trade for a really good big leaguer. There are literally dozens of players like them out there. Mike Sixel 1

Pittsburgh already failed in that regard. Every other team saw a payroll boost with a new stadium, at least for a while. Pittsburgh generously only had the 13th lowest payroll when they opened up their new stadium. It's been pretty much bottom five for the 20 years since. This is undoubtedly the worst ownership in MLB in my view. The other owners should not put up with what Nutting has done, it's a flat out embarrassment for an original and classic franchise and everyone turning a blind eye to what's happening there should be out of a job. I was thinking in terms of where a player would most dread getting traded to. But in terms of general franchise health and from a fan's perspective, it's hard to fathom the failure that this franchise has become. The other teams should be complaining about their share of the lousy gate receipts (my hot button of the week it seems), if nothing else.
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 1) Highly doubt the Twins would contemplate attempting to trade for Reynolds, and 2) I really hope they don’t, either. nicksaviking 1
Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Author Posted December 7, 2022 Even though PIT says no, but I've heard that Reynolds will be traded sooner rather than later if the right deal comes along. Most likely it'll come after Nimmo signs. Most likely MN won't be involved unless there is a 3 way trade.
Cris E Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Two points: PIT has been standing pat on Reynolds with a preposterously high asking price for a long time. It's well-established that they are happy to hang on to him for a while yet. But make a call anyway, throw some names around, listen for something unexpected to be said. They may be completely in love with Arreaez or something. It's not the best run franchise out there, you could get lucky. I wouldn't be averse to sending one of our Totally Awesome Except They're Always Hurt corner guys out for him.
Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted December 9, 2022 Author Posted December 9, 2022 Nimmo has signed, so I expect trade talks for Reynolds will start to heat up soon. Toronto desperately needs a switch (LH) hitter in CF, Reynolds fit that bill very nicely. So why am I interested in TOR's well being? I have an alternative motive. The best TOR trading chip is catching but PIT has 2 elite catching prospects. Davis their former top prospect and Rodriguez a fast rising star that leap frogged Davis for top prospect. That's where MN comes in. Twins should coordinate a 3 way trade. MN desperately need depth & a near future catcher, Endy Rodriguez (PIT) fits our need perfectly. This leaves an opportunity for PIT to upgrade at catcher with many years of availibility for Moreno (TOR) who is ready to take on full-time MLB duties, which PIT really needs. This trade could cost us Arraez + a comp balance pick. Reynolds is clear he doesn't want to stay in PIT, his slight slump last season might be a result of that. PIT fans will balk at 1st about losing both Rodriguez & Reynolds but hopefully they'll see this could be their best solution. Flavey please check this out.
Trov Verified Member Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 I do not see PIT trading him this offseason. Maybe at deadline or next offseason but not this one. Unless they get blown away by a deal. Even if Reynolds will not sign long term, they do not have to trade him right now, they have time.

SwainZag Community Moderator Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 His 2021 was gigantic, but took a pretty big step down last season. Which is the real Reynolds going forward? If it's the .262/.345/.461 version from last season some of these trade offers are way, way too much. If going forward he is closer to the .305/.390/.522 things are probably a little closer with trade values. Do I offer Lee AND Lewis for him? I'm thinking no.....

Well Lee and Lewis is most of the quality left on the farm. If I’m pushing all in it sure isn’t for a corner outfielder.
