Missed most of the game... I've only caught pieces of it. To catch me up... Tell me if I got this straight.

 

Verlander out pitched Worley and Worley out pitched Smyly.

 

Is that about right?

Its setting up nice for that. Dozier... Escobar... Hicks in the 8th... The meat of the order in the ninth.

So it sounded like everyone was ready to bury Worley on Twitter early in his start... but he managed to go 6 IP and only give up 3 earned... Obviously not an ideal start... but out of a 3rd starter that's not bad. It's not fair to expect Worley to be an ace just because he's the best player on a turd of a rotation.

Yes, that's the strategy. Let the 8th-9th-10th place hitters in the line up go quietly, rope-a-dope style, and then let our leadoff guy Mauer come out swinging (or quite possibly walking) to start the 9th.

R u kidding me. 1st pitch in a Twins uniform... What was Mauer doing standing up.

 

It looked like it was going to bounce into his chest and had the top spin to go under his legs (or it hit the plate and skipped instead of bounced).

 

Not a good play but I see how it happened.
