glunn Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Now it should be DOOM for the Tigers.
GCTF Verified Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hopefully things are about to take a left turn at Alburquerque.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Missed most of the game... I've only caught pieces of it. To catch me up... Tell me if I got this straight. Verlander out pitched Worley and Worley out pitched Smyly. Is that about right?
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 A speedier guy in the two-spot would have scored twice on that play. From the dugout, where he would have been sitting when Ryan hit that ball.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Parmelee comes up big... I can feel it
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 UGH. There goes the freebie run-scoring opportunity with one out.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Come on, Chris. You can't swing at that with a 2-0 count.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Come on, Chris. You can't swing at that with a 2-0 count. Nope... That's a young player mistake... No doubt
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Well, that AB was a mix of nice takes and absolutely awful swings. Did the pitcher get the ball over the plate even once?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Some really horrible ABs this game, horrible.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Ouch. Never threw Parmelee a strike, got one bad call from the ump, and Parms did the rest.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hopefully things are about to take a left turn at Alburquerque. Nope. A revoltin' development instead. But sweet bugs bunny ref.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I'm not sure we wanted to tie it up or take the lead quite so soon anyway. Let the Tiger bats snooze a while longer. Lie in wait for the ninth...

Lie in wait for the ninth... Its setting up nice for that. Dozier... Escobar... Hicks in the 8th... The meat of the order in the ninth.
The Greatest Poster Alive Provisional Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 So it sounded like everyone was ready to bury Worley on Twitter early in his start... but he managed to go 6 IP and only give up 3 earned... Obviously not an ideal start... but out of a 3rd starter that's not bad. It's not fair to expect Worley to be an ace just because he's the best player on a turd of a rotation.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 That was really special, Plouffe.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Its setting up nice for that. Dozier... Escobar... Hicks in the 8th... The meat of the order in the ninth. Yes, that's the strategy. Let the 8th-9th-10th place hitters in the line up go quietly, rope-a-dope style, and then let our leadoff guy Mauer come out swinging (or quite possibly walking) to start the 9th.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I would kept Plouffe home on that bunt play.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Slow Prince at 2nd... Lefty on the mound.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Nice pitch by Duensing.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 R u kidding me. 1st pitch in a Twins uniform... What was Mauer doing standing up.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Joe Mauer's 6'5" frame working against him right there.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 R u kidding me. 1st pitch in a Twins uniform... What was Mauer doing standing up. It looked like it was going to bounce into his chest and had the top spin to go under his legs (or it hit the plate and skipped instead of bounced). Not a good play but I see how it happened.
