He doesn't throw that hard to make it difficult to bunt on, and I bet he's more like a snail than a cat, coming off the mound. This is a gimme game. Lynn has a 2.00 ERA and this lineup is, well, let's just say not the Twins best. Baldelli is putting the young guys out there to see what they can do. I would not have made this decision in the rubber game of a series against the division leader, but hey, it is what it is. It's a lost season anyway, but I would at least try to spoil the fun of the Sox as much as possible.

Though they maybe could have a different CF here....with Kepler in CF and someone else in RF. But that's clearly not the plan for some reason.

And I'd rather Celestino get the big league experience over Broxton anyway. Heck, let Gordon play more CF and bring up another infielder. Aside from Miranda, do they have any of those? I don't know what Miranda's defense looks like either.

It would've been nice to see what LaMonte Wade Jr. or Akil Baddoo could've done in this lost season!

Nobody said that. For one thing, RBI aren't measured by WAR. Also, for the record, the argument over D in WAR is the guesswork that passes for measurement.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Only 15 hits allowed by Twins pitchers today. So, there's that!
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Watched the Sox broadcast today...Jason Benetti and Steve Stone. They're fantastic.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Sano poked his head above the Mendoza line, I see. Edit: Well, just the top of his head now...

umterp23 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Sano has to be laughing when Rocco said pitch hit for "I'm in over my head" Rort. So much for the overpaid day off for Sano, actually had to look like he cared by swinging early and often to get out of there.

To be fair, he's talking about baseball players, and there's nothing that baseball players do that makes it easy to tell if they're right or left handed, like wear a glove on their off hand or something.

No doubt. They should really put together a book or pamphlet that they can hand out or sell at the ballpark that tells you these things. Maybe give the media a guide that has that sort of information.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 For the record, Pineda looked pretty cooked today. Struggled to reach 90 on FB. Slider was spotty at best.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I turned off Gamecast. Did they come back and win yet?

umterp23 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Twins this season have some parts that are pretty good, but have a lot of parts that are pretty awful. Pitching really blows as a whole and the offense is offensive. Time to move some parts at trade deadline and reconfigure what you are quickly. Bomba mentality they aren't and until they figure that part out, the losses will pile up. Fundamentally sound swinging the lumber as a group sucks big time.
