Well you said it the Twins don’t have the pitching. So even if they have some kinda miraculous second half, they’d be fortunate to win one playoff game

I woul;dn't disagree with that at all! But trading Cruz isn't going to help that situation.

I guess when I put Cruz's name out there as a potential trade I assume he wants to go to a team in contention. Maybe he is happy here and looking forward to testing FA again next winter.

I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping him either, demand a lot for him, if they don’t get it, just  keep him

Wow--thank you! Now I don't feel like a complete moron on this subject

Worst case, we can feel like morons together. He’s one of the few attractions to buy a ticket for casual fans. Diehards may want the Jose Miranda types getting MLB playing time, but casual fans don’t care.

Has he confirmed or denied playing next year?

Yes, Nelson Cruz is still an elite hitter. But besides fighting opposing pitchers, he also is trying to face down Father Time. I just don't see him being as productive at 41 as 40 and maybe a lot less productive. The Twins have a lot of hitters who can man the DH role going forward. He won't have too much value since he doesn't play in the field and he has an expiring contract.

The odds are against the Twins contending in 2022, but what is needed is pitching. I would hope any and all trades they make this year bring back pitching, including a trade for Cruz. It would also give Nelson a chance to win a World Series, something he hasn't done.

I'm not sure the Twins couldn't contend in 2022...if not for 1st but for a WC. They aren't a bad ballclub...really. They are a decent ballclub playing badly. That does happen. Teams trading for Cruz will understand exactly what you said above. He probably has only the rest of this year to be productive. So what would they give up for a 2 month rental? Perhaps some kid in A ball that might someday make it to AAA? Thats where I'm at.

If only we were so lucky of them making it to AAA… It will certainly be a long shot prospect, or a flawed AAAA player that needs to be added to the 40 man roster.

I'm trying to enjoy this team as much as possible, even though they aren't affiliated with Rochester anymore. I have grown attached to them. My other favorite ex-parent (Baltimore) has turned into a little league team that can't beat anyone. They are totally no fun to watch. They just completed a series down the road in Buffalo...where tickets were easy to get...I had no interest.

As for our new parent...I hate Washington. Its hard to warm up to a team you have always disliked.....now if they were still the Expos....different story. of course! So the Twins, for better or worse, are my baseball lifeline in the majors this year. I want them to do well.

He originally asked for a 2 year deal when negotiating with the Twins over the offseason, so now after he's hit so well, he's definitely playing in 2022.

I would expect MLB will have the DH in both leagues so Cruz will have plenty of matches with his skills.

Today’s outing should quiet the Happ haters for a while.

They will tell you one good performance doesn’t make up for the past

P.S. to the Turtle fans out there. He got ejected from the game and he’s hitting .192 in St. Paul.

Ejected for arguing balls and strikes?

Theilbar with the leadoff walk to start the 8th inning with the team up by 6.

Same old Twins.

Happ has got me so biased.  I hate every time he pitches.  He just doesn't impress me in the slightest.  Yet, he'll throw like he did today, with solid stats.

Looks like Eddie will finish the series 3-12 with three RBI hits (four total RBI). Not bad.

And I think he only had one terrible play running the bases…..or did I miss some?

Sano didn't strike out today and his average is inching up towards .200. Miguel's hitting .196 now folks!
