ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Does that include winterball?I didn't think of that. Yes, he walked twice in winterball in 2020-21.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Kirilloff get his first regular season hit this inning.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 I had the same thought. Defensive substitution in the 9th?IMO he'll make a decent defensive sub if Cruz needs to sit.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 This confuses me... Dave didn't actually say "Awesome writing, Dave!", did he? Something's wrotten in the state of Dave-mark... (If i figure it out, i'll let ya know) But it is a true statement never-the-less. And a good story to boot! Did you just put words in my mouth? If so, mumble, well.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Awful defense. Awful positioning in the outfield. Pop ups and little grounders getting runs. Big Mike must be furious.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 With Simmons on the shelf, we really don't have a shortstop on the active roster, do we.

Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Author Posted April 24, 2021 What's with the errors?
bighat Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Pirates have one well-hit ball and they're up 3-0.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Cripes. One well-hit ball in the inning and 3 runs score. Edit:ninja'd by bighat. Great minds think alike.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 What's with the errors?Who actually got credit for them? That one looked like a team effort...
bighat Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Now THERE is a guy who can play defense.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Can't throw a guy out at first on a high school grade grounder and then Buxton, no words.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Who actually got credit for them? That one looked like a team effort...The feed on mlb.com shows Polanco with the error, but that could be changed.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Buxton is awesome. Twins need Simmons back.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Great minds think alike.Indeed! I think Buxton will get on base here and the Twins will start chipping away at Cahill shortly!
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Now THERE is a guy who can play defense.Watching that play develop, I thought there was no chance for even Buxton. At some point I will learn...
bighat Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 The feed on mlb.com shows Polanco with the error, but that could be changed. Yeah - I mean, it wasn't a good throw and it should go on Polanco. That said, if Tortuga could have held on to the throw and tagged the runner (which IMO 80% of MLB 1st basemen would do) there would be no error at all.
mnfireman Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 At least most of us can't watch or listen.....
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 The feed on mlb.com shows Polanco with the error, but that could be changed. I should probably watch it with a higher bandwidth, and see how close Astudillo came to catching and applying the tag...
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 At least most of us can't watch or listen..... But can you taste or smell?

But still, I think the official scorer is supposed to look at who made the initial misplay, and not at what another defender could have done to pull the fat from the fire. Official fielding stats are way insufficient to the task, and better analytics still are far from complete.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Naptime, gotta sleep off this 2nd moderna shot. Godspeed.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Warning track power for Kirilloff so far.

No doubt it belonged to Polanco, just saying it is unfortunate that Tortuga couldn't save him from that.
