Twins:

0. Jose Berrios (R ) P
1. Max Kepler ( L) RF
2. Josh Donaldson (R ) 3B
3. Nelson Cruz (R ) DH
4. Jorge Polanco ( S ) 2B
5. Miguel Sano (R ) 1B
6. Mitch Garver (R ) C
7. Byron Buxton (R ) CF
8. Andrelton Simmons (R ) SS
9. Brent Rooker (R ) LF

Now that looks like a solid regular season lineup... I hope Buxton graduates out of the #9 spot and ends up at #6/7. I think I'd also prefer Arraez & Polanco at leadoff and put Kepler in cleanup.

The three catchers/"catchers" with MLB experience on the Twins' 40-man roster have 2 cubed, 3 cubed, and 4 cubed as their uniform numbers: Garver #8, Jeffers #27, and Astudillo #64.

Begs the question of who has 1 cubed, and why aren't they catching?

Nick Gordon. He needs to be taught catching then. More versatility can only help him. ;)

"Catchers" in quotation marks? Now that's just a gratuitous knock on the Turtle. Funny, perhaps, but totally uncalled for.  :P

I was just thinking this morning how little respect Dobnak and Willians get from this TD crew. I won't guarantee any All-Star appearances (maybe for Dobnak, if all the pieces fall into place), but these guys are solid contributors. I suspect we'll all be cheering their accomplishments before the year is through, and maybe for many years after (Dobnak again).

Love the math -- great observation. Kudos to both you and SSOO. (SSOO -- reminds me of the name of an old Peter Gabriel recording. We have the Boomstick. Now where's our Sledgehammer?)

Funny but not really uncalled for. Astudillo is not a catcher. He's a guy who is able to catch if need be. IMHO it's like calling Nelson Cruz an "outfielder".

One of the things I like about game(s) threads is that thread jacks are allowed, and almost even encouraged. That means that comments kind of out of the blue, like this one, fit right in.

Thread jacks...

That's the game where you bounce a ball off the ground, then post as many times as you can, and still catch the ball before it hits the ground again?

I prefer thread marbles.

You're a known Turtle skeptic, mister three-quarters, but the terrapin shall prove you wrong. I still remember that beautiful snap throw to first base to catch the guy two years ago. I like his energy and versatility. His head always seems to be in the game too. He may not be a great catcher, but he's more than a "catcher." I'm still not ready to call Nelson Cruz an outfielder though. Even I run faster than he does. Maybe.

Buddy ( ;)), I also loved the no-look pickoff at first. It would have been even better if it had happened in a real game.

OK, but you can see the potential here. Call it glass three-quarters full. (Sorry.)

Give Turtle time. I wouldn't be surprised to see Falvey, Levine, and Rocco do so. It's still early, of course, but I can see the Twins keeping Arraez, Rooker, and Astudillo as three of our subs. I think Garlick gets strong consideration. Broxton can opt out, right? That's another tough call.

A question for TD readers: Faster in a footrace -- Jim Thome or Nelson Cruz?

I like today's lineup. I'd like to see Buxton start heating up. Kirilloff is in there. So is Astudillo, playing right field. There's that versatility. Nelson Cruz can't do that.    ;)
