White Sox to sign Edwin Encarnacion

Per multiple reports, the Chicago White Sox and Edwin Encarnacion have agreed to a 1 year, $12 million deal.

 

The White Sox have signed Grandal, Keuchel, Gio Gonzalez and now Encarnacion to their talented young prospects. They are a legit contender in the AL Central.

Gotta hand it to the White Sox. They want to improve. They have a very decent chance of winning the AL Central this year seeing that the Twins front office has done almost nothing in 2 months.

This is not good for us... the Twins should just sign Donaldson already!

Yes, Encarnacion has hit well against the Twins in the past.  But the past isn't 2020, when he will be another year older.  

 

Throwing together a lot of recognizable parts doesn't always a winner make.  Will they all fit?  Could, but nothing is guaranteed.  Personally, I like my Minnesota Twins!

At this point I think the Sox have at least pulled even with the Twins as the early AL Central favorites. White Sox fans have got to be thrilled seeing their front office pulling out all the stops.

I had Chicago ahead of the Twins prior to Encarnacion.

 

Buy, hey, maybe Garver will hit 74 home runs and I'll be proven wrong.

I’m jealous of how aggressive they’ve been, but Encarnacion is the first free agent move of theirs that I liked. Or disliked as a Twins fan I guess.

They are making a lot of similar moves that we made last year.  That the Twins retained the better part of the recent acquisitions I think still puts them above the Whitesox.  But hopefully there's another shoe drop (Donaldson/trade for SP).

 

I for one wouldn't want Keuchel (at that price) or Encarcion (doesn't fit, we already have Cruz).
