i like  Morneau, but does anyone else think he answers his own  talking points 8 different ways,  Just think he needs to tone it down a bit, alot of comments about him talking way to much for his job  he is a ROOKIE THOUGH

How do you differentiate him from virtually every other pro athlete in this regard? (And perhaps virtually every other person?)

 

Tom Brady never asks to be the highest paid; in fact this is one of the only years he's taken a raise. He'd rather win than make more money. Nelson Cruz took less money to go to a team he thought he fit in with better. Lots of athletes do it. It's the fact that he wasn't trying to go to the best team (Yankees) and would only sign with a team that offered him the most money. I took a paycut to move to a place I wanted to live. I think a lot of people would rather be happy in a place they love than live in a place they don't like to make more money.

You hear about players going for “fit” all the time;

 

And even our own front office calls this a “destination” for free agents, despite any evidence that they ever really outbid other teams*
