Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Something new to worry about: Cleveland's trailing the Wild Card race to both the Rays and A's. Meaning that if Cleveland catches the Minnesota, it's more than likely the Twins don't even make the playoffs.ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Note to Brusdar Graterol: Major league hitters can hit 100 MPH heat. 23 pitches, 2 swings and misses. Zach Littell got 4 swings and misses of his 13 pitches.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Bad idea. Who pitches the first quarter of the year? And will he even be game ready right away after that?He has not pitched a full year in three years now.....The suspension is going to cause him to sign at a discount. The Twins might have no interest, and if they didn’t they’d be justified, but I’ll bet whichever team signs him, it will look like a bargain by June.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 His obit in the Free Press indicates it was a reference to his nose. Wait, the original Sphinx doesn't have a nose. Right, it got broken. Yeah, I assume the ears also contributed.

I'd take him on a hometown discount. But I'd also treat him like an extra arm in planning. Somebody (probably more than 1) will go down and he'd get his chance to step up and prove himself. I don't think you can bank on him being an every-fifth day pitcher. Even without the suspension, his history is just too spotty.

operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Yeah, I don't like it either. I've seen a fair share of posts talking about lots of post-season stuff as if the playoffs are a given. With another game against Washington and 3 at Cleveland, and the Twins offense that scores 2 runs per game, I have no idea why anyone's so confident. Detroit and KC can beat this Twins team more than once each.Playoffs! We're talking about Playoffs!!!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Fernando Romero: what to do. Seemingly good stuff. Upper 90s fastball, upper 80s slider. MLB hitters seem to have no trouble getting their bats on his pitches though. My guess is location, location, location.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Cant get Kendrick out- he looks 50 years oldWell he is hitting .332, so I imagine he'd be hard to get out.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I really hope Romero works on his command this offseason, because if he throws strikes, he can be a stud.
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Strange choices - but i do wanna see these 2 develop, romero and graterol, we gonna get a Fr.e. experience ?
Blake Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I think it's safe to say the Twins have some very intriguing arms in the bullpen.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 They're throwing Rodney at us?! We gotta break out the FRE!!

David HK Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I'm kind of worried for TC Bear right now. Just wondering if Rodney's going to have a 'hit the mascot' moment.

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Bad idea. Who pitches the first quarter of the year? And will he even be game ready right away after that?He has not pitched a full year in three years now..... Which MIGHT not be the worst thing. Some of us were concerned he would run out of gas at the end of this year coming back from TJS. A late start would also limit his innings, but limit them on the front end rather than the back. And it's not unusual that a starter has gotten injured or pitched his way out of the rotation by around mid-to-late May. I was struck by the tone of the responses from Rocco and other players in talking about him this week. They seemed to be genuine in expressing their sorrow for him, rather than the somewhat veiled responses that often come and that seem to be hiding an "I can't believe he's such an idiot" feeling. And the sadness didn't seem to be coming from the perspective of losing a top-notch pitcher as much as losing a top-notch guy. I think we'll be able to tell a lot about the situation by how the Twins respond in contract talks. They're smart and know more of the story than we do. If they go after him, I'm inclined to buy his story. (Sorry. Three paragraphs was more than I'd intended. I don't want to hijack the game thread.)
