LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 This is what happened. The bullpen was well rested after the All Star break. But thanks to the 4+ inning starts by our top three starters that was short lived. We only have One reliable reliever and no real starters. 5 innings is not a ML starter. So Gibson is a joke, May is a joke, Duffey is a joke, Parker is a joke, Magill is a joke Littel is a joke
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 What would Tom Kelly do? Make them stay late for batting practice.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I try to relax, but being on this Twins ride for the past 10 years has been pretty bumpy.10 years?! Rookie.
BattleYourTailOff Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Is that a problem?Only if youve watched Twins baseball the last month
BattleYourTailOff Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I don't think anyone who follows this team is buying that pile of dung. They don’t have to as long as the media buys it
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Holy hell people take a deep breath. It's alright, games like this happen from time to time. The Twins nearly swept Cleveland coming out of the break, took Edwin Diaz to his breaking point last night, and let defensive miscues and a laughable bullpen outing ruin a 2 game series at home. Let's just come back tomorrow and hope it goes better than the last 3 innings did today. We're not taking on water just yet. This Dr. is looking at the past month, and this team has a losing record since June 15. It is not just the last three games. The trend has not been pretty. When I take a calm deep breath, it is easy to see the cracks leaking a bit. I really think .500 baseball from here on out will be problematic and the playoffs elusive. And hasn't just about every (other) team feasted on Diaz this year? I hate to see any professional team just throw in the towel and basically "resign" when people/fans paid to see a maximum effort.

I’d call that “taking on water”.
bighat Verified Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 This is what you get when a bunch of quitters take over the site. I hear ya. But just don't mistake "frustration" for "quitting". Everyone here wants this team to win. But there's nothing wrong with being frustrated when your favorite team plays poorly, in my opinion. We're just sports fans, doing what sports fans do. Sure, I like the feature articles, the feel-good stories and the La Tortuga t-shirts. But those things are a distant second right now to winning the division and competing in the playoffs. Oakland, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Boston have already made trades or signed big name pitchers in the last month. The Twins...nothing. Getting plastered by an NL also-ran at home is going to bring out the angry fan in some of us, as it should. The season is slipping away and the front office is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Nobody should be force to pretend to be happy about it. Just my opinion. Fist bump. Go Twins.

TribeAZ13 Provisional Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Howdy twins fans...u guys will pick it back up..remember, ur awfully injured right now and EVERY team goes thru patches like this..i must admit im stunned my tribe has made up so much ground in six weeks but the odds are against us beating detroit AGAIN... u guys are still a great team but no doubt need a dominant pitching reinforcement ....best of luck, go tribe and it should be a great final 2 months to see who takes the Central

If the Twins pick up some pitching help they may have a chance, if they don’t then they definitely are quitters

It’s July 17th . Yes they have quit already. Didn’t the GM say a couple of weeks ago, we will build from within? They have quit already, that’s correct

They don’t make the playoffs this year, that’s a given, and I know you just want me to shut up, but I won’t, just for you

Pius Jefferson Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Why does it seem like the Twins haven't played good baseball since Miguel Sano came off the D.L.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 I heard that this Twins season is ranked either 7th or 8th for the longest period of time without losing 3 games in a row... and then when it did happen, many fans declared the season to be over, despite being 22 games above .500. Odd how the Indians losing back-to-back games to the Orioles 13-0 didn't instantly end their season, but two losses to the Mets is a season ender for the Twins? Why does it seem like the Twins haven't played good baseball since Miguel Sano came off the D.L.You are right about that... we had an article explaining how the lineup could be better with Sano, and statistically it looks that way with Sano having a solid .870 OPS with 25 RBIs in 45 games. I think the problem has been that going from Gonzalez to Sano defensively at 3B was a big drop-off. Gonzalez was [surprisingly] ranking very highly according to fielding metrics.
