Game Thread Mets @ Twins 12:10 PM 7/17/19

I heard that this Twins season is ranked either 7th or 8th for the longest period of time without losing 3 games in a row... and then when it did happen, many fans declared the season to be over, despite being 22 games above .500. Odd how the Indians losing back-to-back games to the Orioles 13-0 didn't instantly end their season, but two losses to the Mets is a season ender for the Twins?

 

 

You are right about that... we had an article explaining how the lineup could be better with Sano, and statistically it looks that way with Sano having a solid .870 OPS with 25 RBIs in 45 games. I think the problem has been that going from Gonzalez to Sano defensively at 3B was a big drop-off. Gonzalez was [surprisingly] ranking very highly according to fielding metrics.

Sure, finally losing 3 games in a row might be somewhat laudable, I guess. But since the twins won 6 in a row from May 20-26, they’ve had two win streaks of 3 games, that’s it. It’s basically been alternative a win and a loss or 2 and 2. In other words, mediocre. We’ll see if Young Rocco can get things moving again. So far, it’s been much too sloppy for anyone’s liking.

After winning the series in Tampa the Twins were 40-18. Since that time they are 18-18. The amazing thing about baseball is play .500 ball for 64% of the season you still might win the Central.

To come totally clean, this is all my fault.

 

I'm the reason The 2019 Minnesota Twins lost a third game in a row.

 

I was supposed to write the game thread intro.

 

I was even up and saw it was a day game as of like 9am (and that's east coast)

 

But alas i hadn't gotten an idea yet, so i started waiting for the line ups, a tried and true method of, if not getting inspiration, at least passing the time until i have an excuse to throw the basics up.

 

I got distracted by something else, still didn't think of anything better than "Rubechat" mentioned at the tail end of last night's game thread (another fine source of inspiration), but that in and of itself isn't an acceptable idea. I needed somewhere to go with it. Rubics cube, or rubicon (that's pretty good actually... mighta done something with it if i'd thought of it back then.)

 

Anyway, i figured as of 10:30-11ish, short nap wouldn't hurt. Might even help. But alas, i woke up at 1:15, as the game was supposedly starting, and this thread was already underway.

 

Well, if i can't introduce the thread, at least i can close it out.

 

May this be the last 3 game losing streak of the season!
